I think you shouldn't read the novel - I haven't read it (as I didn't "Us") but both are vastly different from the shows, as Chao Planoy just loves to stack problematic characterizations on top of each other, and especially May comes off far worse.

First we get another flashback, this time to May’s childhood that shows us what a wonderful human being her father – wasn’t. He’s quickly racking up points for the contest “worst parent in a WLW series,” and even though the field’s rather crowded at that point, he manages to get in the lead easily, with first taking May’s storybook when her grades started slipping slightly as a pre-teen, then a few years later, forcing Ton to break up (with Ploy!) and to study harder while also scolding for having thought of her own. He responds by slapping her and threatening to throw her out on the street. Ton agrees to do everything her father want to get him off May’s case, and her Mother says, she should apologize – which May does after realizing she’s all alone in the family. (The father turns in his candidacy for “worst parent in a Chao Planoy novel” here, so far he has only one person – from “Mate” – slightly in front of him.) She quietly vows – to Ai-Oon’s cup –to break free and make something of herself. Then we are back in the present, and Ton and May check into a hotel in Korat, before talking to father again. She can’t see clearly yet, but her sight is getting better. She’s a little worried about tomorrow’s talk with her father, but Ton assures her that she can handle him now, having found her Pluto. Said Pluto, i.e., Ai-oon, texts her and promises to meet up with her the next day, and calls her “my first love.” ❤ The next day, Ai-oon is visiting her sister at the hospital, and she apologizes to her for making May inadvertendly fall in love with the wrong person. i.e., Ob-oom, plus, she thanks her for giving her the chance to meet May (I’m not sure that was her intention when she sent Ai-oon over to May.) Then, Kosol rings her up, telling her that her ride is ready; she leave’s and doesn’t notice Ob-oom fingers moving. Pang shows up with a flower at Jan’s to apologize for getting in the way with Jan and Pim last week – but Pim has left her, having realized that she’s still not over Pang and can’t start a new relationship, at least not now. Jan considers the flowers a housewarming gift, then, and wants to take off Pang’s hands – but instead offers herself up as the new beginning these flowers should congratulate her for. Jan is surprised. We are back the May’s father’s residence, where May can see her parent passably clear. Ton hands over some document which are about a case of stock manipulation in which Batman is a suspect, and her father might very well be dragged into the investigation as well – in any case, she recommend a good attorney, but May is currently busy handling another case involving Batman (we know it’s the compensation case), so she might not have enough time to deal with this. Then, Ai-oon shows up, and May tells her father that she will never represent Batman (she calls him by his real name – Marut – so that Ai-oon doesn’t find out that she was the one who represented Bens attacker). She leaves it at that and leaves her childhood home. Tin add to this that he will talk to May about representing him afterwards, but makes clear that he doesn’t tolerate his interference anymore. After this, we see the vehicle Ai-oon arrived in, it’s a used, small minivan/RV which Ai-oon has made a down payment on some time ago, but that to be fixed up first. May tells her that she – to be exact, Ai-oon saving her from the bullies – it what made her realize she must learn fight for herself. She’s subsequently studied to get a scholarship abroad, out of reach for her father. She asks where Ai-oon is taking her, they are going camping, staying overnight outside, “to pick up where they left off.” 😉 Ai-oon makes her some instant noodles, and May almost reveals by saying that the meal looks nice, before she corrects herself, saying that she meant to say it smells goods. The rest of this scene feels like an advertisement for instant noodles. We get a glimpse of camping life with May and Ai-oon to the soundtrack of รอนะ (Linger), the song sung by Film that was released the week before the airing of this episode. We interrupt this lovey-dovey scene by Ton visiting Ploy at the restaurant, ready to revisit his previous relationship with her. Ploy is apparently happy to see him. Then, the day turned into night for the happy campers who spend the evening stargazing on top of their minivan. They talk about Pluto which is still making its turns in the solar system, despite being kicked out (actually, Pluto still belongs to the solar system, it’s just not a planet anymore, but a dwarf planet now. But I digress). Ai-oon the gives her heart to May, to be exact she gifts her a necklace representing the heart of Pluto, i.e., her heart. Ai-oon tells her once again that she loves her, then she starts kissing May, which leads to the two of them making love – just as grandma is calling… … because right at this time, Ob-oom wakes up. Grandma is happy, Ob-oom is a little disoriented, and keeps asking for May. The next morning, May wakes up in the minivan and wishes she could see Ai-oon more clearly. Ai-oon then also wakes up telling her she now knows how her novel should end – and she has a request she’d like to make. Later, she finds out grandma has been calling her, and calls her back. Grandma reveals that Ob-oom has woken up – but she doesn’t seem to remember Paul at all. That’s why she is asking for May! (This is not good…) Upon May returning, Ai-oon hugs her heavily, clearly feeling Ob-oom might come between her and May, and fearing the moment when she needs to reveal that she is not Ob-oom (which May know from the start!). May senses that something has changed, but she is willing to wait until Ai-oon can talk to her. They return to Bangkok, with Ai-oon crying at the wheel. Ai-oon visits her twin sister at the hospital again; she realizes that she doesn’t know who Paul was anymore and she is clearly thinking she is a relationship with May. Outside, grandma tells Ai-oon, Pang in Pim the diagnosis; she lost the last few weeks of memories before her accident most likely due to severe trauma. Grandma says it’s a good thing, having forgotten her husband died oh their wedding day, but Pang know what this must be doing to Ai-oon. She agrees that they should not mention Paul for the time being. Ton bring the news of Ob-oom waking up to May, who first thinks that this is a good thing – until she hears that Ob-oom only remembers her. Meanwhile Pang and Jan are talking over lunch, when Jan reveals that Ob-oom sent Ai-oon to break up with May for her, knowing very well that May knew of Ai-oon from their earlier conversation. (She doesn’t mention what result Ob-oom intended.) Then, Pim shows up realizing the Pang and Jan are now together. Later, Ai-oon texts May that she has finished her novel; May tells her to come quickly, but she’s still with her sister at the hospital – who then reveals that May was the one representing Batman. She pleads with her to forgive May – for her. Ai-oon the visits Ben at the hospital, who tells her that May is helping him to get a reasonable compensation. He first hated her guts, but after Kosol told him he took revenge on her for him, he accepted it. Revenge, Ai-oon asks? Ben retells a conversation they had almost two years ago: upon hearing the news of the verdict in the Batman case, Ai-oon was outraged, and suggested the attack on the lawyer who won the case. Suddenly, she feels responsible for her blindness. You knew, the asks Kosol, who’s just arrived. Why did he let her fall for May, then? She now loves May, yet, she’s the reason that May in blind – how can she live with that? 💔 She breaks down crying. (The scene also revealed that Ben’s mother’s life insurance didn’t pay for a suicide, so she actually died in vain.) Well, that episode first provided some well-deserved moments of bliss and happiness, only to hit us with Thor’s hammer afterwards, and by the preview of the next episode this one won’t be fun either. Poor Ai-oon learning this all within 15 minutes; the crying breakdown with Kosol and Ben was well-acted and played-out but heartbreaking to witness. That final scene literally broke my heart – where Ai-oon realized she caused May’s blindness (which she still thinks ins permanent). I’m guessing we have entered the pain arc of this Chao Planoy adaptation.
