I'm glad you're reacting to this. Not enough people did. Very underrated show. Tungpang and Jessie are very cute/ adorable nerds IRl. I watch their live streams, and they are very comfortable together. They stay at each others places, play board games and are pretty clingy when together, and have no problem showing their affection and saying I love you to each other.

We start with Vicky – one of our leads – decorating muffins as she is called to her storefront to deal with customers. We see that her shop is actually opening that day. She gets a call from her dad, Mr. Phakphum, who promises to be there soon, but first gets some flowers for her. Nearby, there is a flower market where Thara is stationed as a helper, but really she’s undercover exposing a drug trade: the police have infiltrated the drug operation and are about to strike when the regular customer arrives. The drugs are hidden in baskets of lotus flowers, the police strikes as the exchange is being made, but some people flee the scene. Meanwhile, Mr. Phakphum is being targeted by an assassin, the attempt is thwarted by shots fired somewhere else, alerting his bodyguard, but the attacker flees, with the bodyguard in pursuit. We see that the shot were fired at the flower market, where some criminals try to flee, but Thara and her colleagues after some brawling disarm and arrest the culprits. The final guy is neutralized by Mr. Phakphum himself. We switch to the bakery where someone ordered a gift to Thara and Vicky is packing it. Vicky learns from her assistant that Thara is a superstar of the police force, as we watch her handle and arrest another criminal expertly. The raid is a success, they’ve gathered all drug smugglers and their clients. Mr. Phakphum joins the operation as Thara’s superior reports that things went haywire because it is a residential area where a 100% lockdown was not possible, but Mr. Phakphum is fine as no officers of civilians were hurt. He is then introduced to Thara as the leader of the operation, and he congratulates her for a job well done. But Thara doesn’t seem to be happy. Later, Mr. Phakphum’s bodyguard apologizes to Vicky for missing the grand opening, but claims they will be there shortly. But she gets sent flowers from a Minister Burin. The bodyguard informs Mr. Phakphum that the assailant has escaped; Mr. Phakphum requests to get the CCTV footage of the previous six hours. Then, we get a flashback of Thara meeting Mr. Phakphum with her father when she was a kid. She seems to bear a grudge against the man. Later, Vicky asks her father at home where he has been on her grand opening day; he claims he was tied up with work, but gives her a flower bouquet; she mocks him that his work always takes precedence, but he claims that one day, she will realize she is the most important person for her. She asks him about Minister Burin who sent her a big flower bouquet, but he claims to only know him from events and they aren’t that close. At the police, a debriefing of the raid takes place, the have confiscated kilos of various drugs; her superior requests Thara to send a report to deputy commissioner Phakphum – this is the first time we learn his position; and we get a continuation of the earlier flashback scene where Mr. Phakphum tells her father to call him if anything is wrong, then invites him, his daughter and his wife to a birthday party for his daughter. She is deep in thoughts when her superior repeats his request, she then vows to get the report ready in time for the press conference. Her colleagues thinks they are lucky that Mr. Phakphum was there, but she wonders how many people he had to step on to get to the position of deputy commissioner. Then, Thara sees the many gifts sent to her by her fans, and her colleague is reminded that he was supposed to meet his girlfriend at the cake shop opening and quickly excuses himself. Her superior comes in and takes a few of her gifts for himself. (sharing is caring 😉) At night, she takes a cake package from Vicky’s bakery home, puts it in her fridge and calls her mother, who is in Los Angeles. She tells her she met Mr. Phakphum that day, by coincidence. Her mother asks if her work is related to him in any way, but she denies it, and she requests her to stay far away from him. Doesn’t she want to know what happened 19 years ago, Thara asks, but her mother argues it’s in the past, and warns her not to dig it up. As Thara is looking at a photo of her family, she ask her mother whether she should let her father have dies for nothing, and we get another flashback of young Thara coming home from school and asking for her father – who then dropped dead from an upper floor. Thara wakes up from this nightmare and grabs a frog plushie. The next day, she recounts the events to her friend, Dr. Noey, reporting that she finally slept again after holding Fundee, her plushie and counting from 100 to 1 – at 3 a.m. Noey thanks her for bringing her some cake the day before Thara excuses herself. We see that the bodyguard is also at the hospital, as is Mr. Phakphum, who wants to know what he found out. But the bodyguard is reporting that the assailants yesterday trailed them since the airport and used fake license plates, but he is sure that someone is after Mr. Phakphum and that the bombing the month before was also targeted at him. Thara in tired at work, but not as tired as her colleague who is downright sleeping, having lost his girlfriend the night before. When he awakes, he blames his job for the frequent breakups and argues even Thara is single, but his superior states that everyone else in the team is either married or has a girlfriend, and Thara is also doing fine. At night, Vicky is checking the stocks at her bakery while her employee leaves; Thara is also in the area because she wants to buy some cake for Noey’s birthday the next day. She goes to the store just as Vicky closes it up, but accidentally left one door open. Thara want to buy said birthday cake for her friends, but the shop has already closed, and additionally is out of stock. But she offers to prepare something for her tomorrow – and requests her to leave her name and phone number for an additional discount. But as she tries to write down her number a motorcyclist appears and throws a brick though her glass door and then drives away. Thara pushes Vicky out of the way to the ground, then calls the police and cares for Vicky until they arrive. Later, Mr. Phakphum arrives on scene, but Vicky is fine and no one is hurt as there were only herself and the person who helped her on site, but she left already after she made her statement. His bodyguard finds out that is was Thara who helped Vicky, and also, that the brick was labeled “ตาย” (“dead/die”). Mr. Phakphum theorizes that because he (who?) couldn’t get to him, he targeted their daughter instead. His bodyguard ask whether he’s sure it’s him, as he is as sure as his bodyguard is. He is trying to take out everyone who knows his secret, and he is not worried about himself but his daughter. The next day, Thara meets Noey with her colleague Pete to congratulate her for her birthday; she asks her why she brought Pete along, and they all want to make merit for different reasons. But Pete can’t buy some merits because they are out, Thara jokingly suggests Noey and Pete share, for they’ll be soulmates in the next life. And Pete actually shares the merit with Noey, though it’s not by her choice. Vicky is remembering the events from the day before, especially how Thara took care of her, then she asks whether Thara has ordered her cake yet, which she hasn’t, then Vicky notices two cops hanging around the area, and she calls her dad – as Thara makes her orders – to get him to disperse the cops scaring away her customers, but he won’t do it – because, as he tells her in person, they’ve targeted her because they can’t get to him. Until he can get them arrested, he wants her to join the police force, so that she’s under 24/7 surveillance – she assigns her office work, mainly copying and translating documents, and requests that she hires a replacement baker for her shop until this mess is cleared up. Mr. Phakphum is happy to see her work so closely, then his doctor calls and wants to confirm a surgery date because she’ll will be out of the country for a while. He worries who will take care of his daughter while he’s out for surgery – then he has an idea: he organizes a VIP protection training for Vicky to attend, and his bodyguard proposes to also invite Thara to join, as she was the person helping Vicky at the bakery. Thara at first declines the offer, until she learns it was Mr. Phakphum who invited her and is running the course, and there are rumors floating that he’s looking for a private bodyguard. Then she agrees to take part in the course. Mr. Phakphum also invites his daughter who agrees after she learns that the course is attended by celebrities and take place on a private beach – and after the one-week course, she can go back to her bakery. Thara packs for the course remembering her phone call with her mother and her father death, and we see a “murder board” at her place on which she pinned everything regarding her father’s case. She signs up for the course, but they cannot leave yet, because one trainee is still missing – Vicky, who comes an hour late to the bus in an outfit unfitting the training – and that’s where the episode ends. ____ Yes, that was way better than expected; I didn’t have high hopes for this first GL of Monomax, but the production values are excellent and the actors capable. We have the leads and their motives clearly established – Thara wants to find out what happened to her father, and Vicky wants to go back to her bakery – and we also has a glimpse of (romantic?) interest that Vicky showed towards Thara. So, the scene is set for the next six episodes – and if I can watch them (which Monomax doesn’t appear to make easy - but I got it in the end), then I will. 😊
