Broken (of) Love - Finale!

Lalin is captured and Walin is in the hospital. Lord! I was beginning to think that they were gonna have us on the edge of our seats for the majority of the episode.

But we got happiness! And lots of it! We got mommas together and Arisa and Lalin are finally happy and thriving!

Faye made a damn good series! I can’t wait for what is coming next! A bright beginning for Atom and the rest of the cast. What a ride!

The final episode start at the hospital where Arisa comes in to Saitharn and Weiling with the latter revealing that she is suffering from cardiomyopathy, probably due to drinking too much when Saitharn left her. But she never told Lalin because she didn’t want her to worry. They are wondering where Lalin is – but not for long, because Wit calls Arisa to show he has kidnapped Lalin and is going to kill her if he doesn’t get his wife Pin back by the evening. And he tells her not to bring any cops or Lalin is as good as dead. Arisa claims that everything is her fault, if she hadn’t agitated Wit while scheming against Weiling, Lalin wouldn’t have ended up like this. It started with her, she argues, so it has to end with her. She vows not to let anyone lay a hand on Lalin, her mother warns her to be careful, and Weiling leaves it to her. She then call Ai as she running towards Lalin, and Ai wants to come with her. After the credits, Lalin pleads with Wit, but to no avail; he claims that all he did was out of love, and it fell apart because of Arisa. Arisa comes in with a hooded figure, Wit thinks it’s Pin and closes in on them. They meet, but under the hood is Ai attacking him with pepper spray. Arisa uses the short confusion to attack Wit and get him to drop his gun. Ai moves to free Lalin while Arisa is brawling with Wit who gets hit several times but gets a few jabs in as well and eventually retrieves his gun. King has brought the police to this place and they start searching where Wit is. Meanwhile, Wit is shooting at Ai and Lalin to keep them from escaping; they split up and Wit follows Lalin, who runs into the arms of Arisa and is indicated to keep silent. King finds Ai who tells them where Wit went, and the police follows this lead. Arisa und Lalin flee but Wit catches up with them and recaptures Lalin. Arisa pleads with him to let her go, but Wit is not listening because she took Pin from him, so he will take Lalin form her. The police arrives to get him to drop the gun, but he shoots at Arisa instead – but the bullets his Mek instead who just rushed in. Lalin bites Wit and frees herself, and Wit is hit by a number of bullets from the police, and drops dead. Meanwhile Mek, is dying, claiming that he finally fulfilled his promise to her father of taking good care of her. Both Mek and Wit are dead as the paramedics arrive. We switch to Mek’s funeral where Arisa and Saitharn attend, the latter forgiving him for everything he did and thanking him for taking care of Arisa. Arisa thanks him for protecting her for all her life until his last breath. Saitharn argues that it’s all over now. King and Ai talk about the events that happened, and King argues that Mek is still guilty of killing her father, but Ai tells her not to live her life in vindictiveness, as she has seen enough people suffer because of it. She argues that it’s best to live in the present. And King claims she is just relieved to know who was behind her father’s death, she has forgiven him now. Ai calls her amazing and her dad must be proud of her somewhere. King thanks her and claims that there’s at least one good thing coming out of this: that King and Ai have met. King calls her pretty brave, arguing she just put herself through a lot of danger, and Ai remarks that her boss wouldn’t want to let her pose as Pin, but she felt she couldn’t leave her alone in this. She asks King if she went there to report on this, but King claims she wanted to help her. Weiling can be discharged, but needs to take medication, and to avoid drinking alcohol and not exert herself too much. Lalin accuses her mother of not telling her of her condition, and Weiling claims that she’s always been prepared, because she didn’t know she would live another day – but she still wanted to witness her becoming ready to take care of herself and what she has built. Lalin calls her as stubborn as she is for planning everything but not bothering to tell her, and agues that if she wants her to forgive her she needs to be a good patient. From now on, she will take good care of her, and Saitharn also wants to be part of that. Weiling tells her not to care for her out of guilt but because she really cares. Weiling claims to have been working so lang without knowing what it was for and wants to spend the rest of her life with her loved ones. Arisa apologizes for what she did to her, and asks her if she can find it in her heart to forgive her. And Weiling takes Arisa’s hand and tells her to call her “mom”. The four of the return home, Saitharn monitors that Weiling takes her medication, and they are having cake together, having dinner, and drinking wine (hey, Weiling – shouldn’t you abstain from alcohol?) We switch to the racetrack where Arisa is driving the car with Lalin in her passenger seat. But Lalin is scared because she has to work the next day, taking over from her mother. But Arisa argues she’s a fast learner, and she has a partner who is both skilled and smart, so there’s no need to be scared. Or she could go back to being Lyla if this job isn’t to her liking, she argues. But Lalin claims no matter which name she chooses she won’t find happiness without her. And Arisa claims she won’t either without her. She then give her the ring that Lalin threw at her back, arguing that there will be no more grudges from now on, and Arisa warns her not to throw it back at her again or she won’t pick it up again. They declare their love for each other, and Lalin wants to know if she is the most interesting person in her life now, but Arisa claims that there is more to be discovered about her. And Lalin agrees and wants the discovery to start right then and there, arguing there’s noting to be scared of because it’s her racetrack and there’s no one around. So, they start to make out (and make love) in the car. Later in the office, Arisa piles a bunch of documents on her table and tells her to read them all; she corrects any mistakes she made and teaches her how to deal with it. On Friday, Ai brings her a document to sign, and asks her if she will be going out that night. But Arisa is busy, she claims, and asks about her. Ai hesitates then tells her that she’s thinking about asking a neighbor out for dinner. Lalin repeats “a neighbor” knowingly, then tells her she’s rooting for her, but Ai maintains it’s just a neighbor, but Lalin claims she has eyes, and tells her to enjoy it. She gets into King’s car and King notices she apparently bathed in cologne, and argues this is like she’s going on a date or something, when they are just diving home, but Ai argues that’s how she wears her perfume, and Ai Wants to go out fore a meal first, which also is King’s intention, she admits, and asks if she was wearing her lipstick and perfume thinking King was asking her out on a date. Bit she is just looking for a friends to drink with, she claims. Is she just looking for someone to drive her around while getting blackout drunk, King asks, but Ai claims she’s not going to get drunk anymore. She is going to be a hottie in case she can get someone to fall for her – there’s got to be someone who thinks she’s gorgeous. Arisa comes to Lalin earlier that expected because her appointment didn’t run as long as she feared, but Lalin is exhausted to the bone, she claims, and wants her to charge her battery. And Arisa give her a photo she took when she was singing on the day they met. Arisa claims she loves this photo so much, because it’s the first one she took of her, and argues that this photo brought them all the way there. Lalin argues that it was such a fun day, and from the spark in her eyes you could see from a different planet that she was into her. And Arisa claims that if she had taken a photo of her that day, she would see the sparks in her eyes as well. They argue a bit about whether the sparks can be seen that day as well, then they kiss each other and Lalin claims the her battery is recharged now and she can continue working, and Arisa vows to help her. Lalin proposes at the board meeting to go into building their own area by themselves, arguing that if they manage the whole ecosystem, they will be the price setter for the whole area, creating its value from day one. And the board agrees. In a place where it snows, Weiling and Saitharn argue about their kids, and Saitharn finds it tragic that they are not with them, but Weiling argues that it’s what they wanted: for them to live their own lives without having to do things for them, and claims that now is the time to live for each other. Saitharn claims that while she was in hiding, she barely remembered what her life goals were; she just breathed through the days wanting to be reunited with Kee. Weiling argues that right now she is also just breathing through the days, but now she’s with her. Then, she doesn’t want to talk about the past anymore, and instead talk about today, tomorrow, what she will be doing, what they will be eating or want songs they will listen to. These are the only topics they should be discussing. Saitharn realizes that Weiling still likes to boss people around, but want her to know that she won’t obey easily, and Weiling argues that why they’re together and will be for a long time. Saitharn wants to know that she would fix if she would turn back time, and Weiling argues that’s about the past again, but eventually tells her she wouldn’t let her run away by herself. And they kiss each other. The final scene of the series is at the racetrack again where this time Lalin drives the car with Arisa in the passenger seat. And she does it well, with Arisa claiming afterwards that she didn’t think she would be this daring, but Lalin claims to have gone far since almost puking in the passenger seat, and Arisa agrees. Lalin claims to have understood that Arisa could let out her anger by driving really fast, and Arisa wants to know what Lalin is so angry about, and Lalin gives her a few examples of her pet peeves: Arisa takes too long while picking up her phone, doesn’t reply to her texts, and falls sleep before her. She doesn’t wake her up in the morning, and neither wishes her a good nicht nor a good morning. Arisa wants to see her angry face, but Lalin tries and fails a few times. But Arisa claims not to let her be angry and instead give in to all of her demands, just as long as their lives are surrounded by happiness and smiles every day. She has been sad, crying so much that she could fill an ocean, she argues, and Lalin promise to make sure she’s nothing but smiley from now on, and argues her smile was it that impressed her the night they met. And Arisa claims that though all the good and bad times, having Lalin in her life has been the most beautiful thing. She thanks her for rescuing her from her loneliness and Arisa argues she told her they would be lonely together on the day they met. And that’s where the series ends. ___ The final episode what just hugs and rainbows after the first 15 minutes, but I didn’t mind because we could do with a breather in this show which was often told at a breakneck pace. The finale got rid af all the male players and had kind of a happy endling for all the female one, with Ai and King getting the short end of the stick, but that was to be expected since they turned out to be only the tertiary couple, after all. I give “Broken (of) Love” an 8/10 or a “B” in U.S. letter grades, giving us cinematic visuals but sometimes hokey storytelling, especially for the big reveals.
