The episode starts with Arisa and Lalin post-press conference, when Arisa asks her wife close to tears if she is satisfied seeing her like this, but Lalin claims it’s no about satisfaction, and even though she’s still angry at her, she understands her better after listening to her story. But Arisa wants Lalin to curse her as much as she deserves for what she’s done to her, argues that she’s despicable and she ruined her life. But Lalin just hugs her, and claims she’s not gonna say anything but will stand right next to her. She can wait and wants her to tell her when she’s ready. But Arisa argues that it’s over for them, drags herself away from Lalin and tells her to stop being so good to her, but Lalin isn’t willing to accept that and argues that while they are both hurt, they are supposed to get through this together. She wants Arisa to give herself a chance, and vows she will wait for her to come back. As she leaves, Arisa in crying uncontrollably. Lalin brings Saitharn to her mother, who apparently completely surprised to see her again. Before either one can say a word, Lalin leaves, and Weiling starts crying before claiming she hasn’t changed one bit, which Saitharn denies, and Weiling claims she vividly remember the last time they met, and Saitharn claims it would mean nothing if she apologized now, no one would forgive her. But Weiling wants her to try, for she’s been waiting for 20 years for an explanation. And Saitharn claims she saw that Weiling was happy, that she had a family and a good reputation in society. She’s had everything that Saitharn could never give her. And she argues that if she came back and Weiling would choose her, everything would fall apart. Weiling argues that Saitharn decided for her, but Saitharn argues that should just let her fall apart on her own. Weiling asks what about their promise to fight it all together. She accuses her of leaving someone who loves her waiting for 20 years, without knowing if she’s dead or alive. Saitharn claims that she has no excuse, only an apology. She used to think that her happiness was seeing Weiling and Kee (Arisa) happy, and if she watched them from afar, she’d be okay. But she never thought it would turn out this way, she argues, and Weiling claims that’s because she always assumed everything, and argues in all the years they have known each other, has she ever left her behind. Saitharn claims she misses Weiling so much, and they fall into each other’s arms crying. And Weiling claims that just seeing her again is beyond her wildest dreams, and she asks her to never leave her again. King (the reporter) is talking to the protester who got hurt, but is better now, and he assure her that it wasn’t one of Weiling’s people who hurt him – but he knows who it was now, he was going to tell her, but he got to him first, he claims. And he shows her a photo of Mek, whom she identifies as the guy working for Arisa, and he claims that what happened to her father might be his doing, too. Ai and King are meeting in a lift, and they both sigh, because they have been through difficult situations. Ai wants to grab a bite with her, and they go to a bar, and King claims she found out who cause her father’s death, and will see it through to the end. Ai wants to knows if there is anything she can help with, but King claims she can handle it. And Ai just feels bad for her boss, and argues she must have been so confused to meet her mother, whom she thought was dead again – not to mention the situation with Weiling which seems to have turned into an even bigger misunderstanding. And worst of all is probably what is going on with Lalin. King argues that it takes time to process this, and ai agrees – but claims that if time doesn’t help, she will. King argues that Ai seems to enjoy sticking her nose into other people’s business, and Ai needs King’s help as well. She wants to know how King found Arisa’s mother. But we cut out of their talk before King can tell Ai anything. We get a montage of Lalin’s moments with Arisa, while Arisa is also remembering their moments together. Suddenly and accidentally Arisa shatter her wine glass of it’s falling to the ground, and Ai comes in to call the main to clean it up. She claims it’s been days, and Arisa doesn’t seem to get better. She wants her to sort out some stuff with their business partners, and claims she has already scheduled a meeting, and asks her to go before things get worse. King visit Lalin to talk to her about the intel, but seeing as she is moping she doesn’t think it’s a good idea anymore. Lalin thinks she is not in the mood for guests that day, but King argues she is there as a friend, and it can feel pretty cramped just staying indoors. She wants them to go outside, but Lalin claims that she doesn’t have the energy. King argues that staying in the same place will bring all the memories flooding back. And they go to a restaurant where King hands Arisa the menu to choose as she excuses herself to the restroom. Meanwhile, Ai also coaxes Arisa to go inside while she claims to be fetching some documents. As Arisa see Lalin she wants to turn a go, but Lalin holds her back and wants to talk to her. She want to know how long she will keep pushing her away and tells her to stop avoiding her. But Arisa claims she does neither, she is just not ready. But Arisa thinks that it’s time they face the truth even if it’s painful, and argues maybe it could be the start of healing. And she is tired of acting like she doesn’t care about her. Arisa wants to know if she doesn’t see her in a bad light, and doesn’t feel even a little bit of anger or hatred toward her. And Lalin admits that after she learned the truth one could call her stupid or too generous, but she can’t bring herself to hate her. She takes her hand and asks her to see her mother; she probably wants to explain everything to her. And Arisa visits Saitharn with Weiling and Lalin also present, and claims she’s ready for the truth, and she is handed old photos of her and Weiling while Saitharn claims they have been friends since university. Weiling was her best friend and closes person, she claims, until she had to marry her father for the sake of their family’s business. It seemed like a happy ending, but no one knew it was the start of a nightmare. And we get a flashback of Saitharn and Weiling meeting in a café as Saitharn is writing in her diary, and Weiling wants to buy her a new pen, but Saitharn is happy with the old one. Weiling gives her a gift, then she notices that Saitharn has bruises on her arm, and wants to know if it happened again, and she notices bruises on her neck as well. She argues that this has gone way too far and wants to know what if he kills her one day? But Saitharn claims it won’t happen as she is the mother of his child; he wouldn’t be that cruel. She can still handle it, she claims, and will find a way out once Kee is older. And she claims that nothing can scare her, as she has Weiling. But Weiling can’t accept it happening right in front of her, and wants her to promise her to tell her if it ever becomes too much to handle. She recounts that back then, Weiling was her only safe space, and we get another flashback of them drinking together, which leads to them kissing – while someone who looks like Mek is taking photographs of them. Mek hands them over to Arisa’s father, who vows to take care of it, as her instructs Mek to take care of his daughter, and not let Weiling near her. And he instructs Mek to take care of Kee in case he is gone, and tell her he loves her more than anything. As Saitharn returns, he accuses her of being the only one who lives her life, and while he’s working hard she doesn’t even think about easing his burden by looking after her child. And he slaps her several times. Afterwards, Saitharn confesses to Weiling that she can’t take it anymore. And Weiling wants to come with her, but Saitharn claims that she’s not alone and can’t do as she pleases, and she has Lalin to care for. She doesn’t want her to get caught up in this, but Weiling argues that once everything is over, she will bring Lalin to be with her. She will have a word with her husband, and claims they only got married because of business, anyway, and argues that her situation is much more critical. What if he goes crazy and kill her, how would Kee live? Saitharn argues that he is a good father, but Weiling maintains he’s a sh*tty husband, and she shouldn’t have to stay with him. And Mek observes this talk as well. Saitharn packs her bags and wants to leave, but her husband holds her back and throws her to the floor asks her where she thinks she is going, and accusing her of running away with Weiling, her mistress, and abandoning her child, but Saitharn claims that Weiling is not her mistress, because they loved each other before she even got married. And she won’t leave her child with him. Her husband hits he several times, and Weiling wants to grab him away, but he hits her as well and assaults her as Saitharn grab a pair of scissors and stabs him with it. He want to hit her again but Saitharn stabs him in the carotid artery and he drops down and bleeds to death. She is frantic and claims she killer him, but Weiling argues it was self-defence, and tells her to run away for now. She will take care of anything there. She quickly gets her out of the house, then proceeds to lay a fire which consumes the whole building. Saitharn claims she know that Mek was trying to find her, so she had to lay low, as she didn’t want Arisa and Weiling to get in trouble. And Weiling argues that Mek was probably just a pawn in her father’s game, driven by vengeance to be passed on to Arisa, and argues he did it out of loyalty to his late boss. Saitharn wanted Arisa/Kee to just remember the good side of her father, as he was a great dad. She is sorry that she didn’t tell her sooner but claims everything is the truth, as Arisa is sobbing. She leaves sobbing, with Lalin in close pursuit. Outside, Arisa tells Lalin that as long as she can remember, she always looked up to her father as a hero, he was such a good person in her eyes, and her role model in every way possible. She never thought he could hurt anyone, let alone her mother, or her. But he hurt everyone. Lalin asks her to take it easy, and she knows she’s been through so much pain, but her dad loved her so much, she claims. She proposes to only keep the good memories of him, but the only positive thing about him is the fact that he brought her info this world, Arisa argues, but there’s one more thing she has to get through. Arisa and Lalin meet with Mek, Arisa tells him just to call him Kee as usual, and claims they know everything now. About what, Mek wants to know, and Arisa claims that everything he told her was a lie, from painting Weiling as someone who would hurt her family, to never disclosing whom her father hurt, to claiming her mother was dead. He claims to have done it all to keep his promise to her father. Arisa accuses him of fostering resentment in her but her claims he only did what was right, and claims Saitharn and Weiling were having an affair, and killed his boss. Arisa argues that dad hurt mom, he assaulted her, and she was in so much pain that she almost died. She admits she doesn’t know what she should think of her hero anymore, and argues he was the only one she had, the only one she loved and respected. And she is begging him to het out of her life. He claims he did what he did out of loyalty to her family, but she argues that killing someone is wrong, that he killed someone innocent, and pleads with him to not do it ever again. She tells him to get out of her life, and he should consider this her last request for him. He didn’t want to do her any harm, but will heed her request. And with that, he leaves. Weiling and Saitharn are in her office. Saitharn wants to know where Arisa and Lalin went, and Weiling claims they went dealing with Mek. She argues that Saitharn is still blaming herself, but they hove to move on and live in the present. Weiling wants to know what her plan is and Saitharn claims she doesn’t know. She never imagined this day would come, she claims as she takes Weiling’s hand, and Weiling asks her if she still wants to be with her, making proposals of moving to Canada or the UK, but before Saitharn can make her own proposal, Weiling has an attack. Arisa is on the racetrack again, and Lalin encourages her to step an that gas pedal until she is satisfied, and puts Arisa’s helmet on as she takes her car for a spin. But as Arisa is racing around, someone kidnaps Lalin. and all that’s left of her is her bracelet when Arisa returns, while Weiling is carried to the hospital. And on those bombshells, the penultimate episode ends. ___ This was a long episode that, together with the last scene of episode 7 completed the head-turn, recontextualizing every event form previous episodes, and revealing that Saitharn and Weiling loved each other. That makes the whole revenge plot moot and Arisa / Lalin resolved their differences quickly in light of this monumental news. Now, we only have to deal with Wit who kidnapped Lalin. Let’s see what will happen in the finale.
I was not at all prepared for the story between Arisa’s mom and Weiling, and then got stabbed in the heart by the reason behind why Arisa’s mom disappeared for twenty years. So many things from previous episode are making sense now. Also, I find the moms being together really cute. I’ve always felt creeped out by Arisa’s “uncle” from the beginning, his eyes always felt too empty and detached.
