Future of Alpha ABS Z. Update 0.10.X information.
After the release of update 0.9.4, two new fundamental systems have been developed: NUI and an updated core. Additionally, the source code for new plugins is now written in TypeScript instead of CoffeeScript.
To ensure further development and support, Alpha ABS must transition to these new systems. This work has been ongoing for several months, which is why there have been no updates with new content—the system's core is being rewritten and modernized.
Based on user feedback and accumulated development experience, some core mechanics are being redesigned to align with modern standards.
Key Changes in Update 0.10.X:
(Some features may be added later to avoid delaying the release.)
Eliminating the grid-based calculations
Instead of a grid-based system (48x48), individual colliders (any size) will now be used.
All calculations (distance, skill radius, visibility range, projectile travel distance) will be measured in pixels, significantly improving precision.New control system
Controls will now be divided into four main schemes:Keyboard only
Keyboard + Mouse
Touch controls (for mobile devices)
Gamepad (automatically enabled when connected)
The interface and skill behavior will adjust according to the selected control scheme.
Updated interface
The new interface is based on NUI and dynamically adapts to the chosen control scheme.New projectile system
Reworked code with improved collision handling and precise pixel-based calculations. Projectiles are no longer tied to the map grid.New movement system
A pixel-free* movement system for both the player and enemies.
Pathfinding will use a finer grid (8x8, 12x12, 16x16 or 24x24 pixels), for optimization purposes.
The player and enemies now have dedicated colliders for movement calculations.New collision system
Optional tile-based collision system.
Ability to manually define additional movement restrictions.
Ability to set up projectile flight restrictions.
Ability to configure enemy visibility zones.
These changes affect the entire plugin, making it impossible to release them separately—each modification requires adjustments across multiple systems. This is one of the reasons for the extended development time.
Work is progressing in all areas. If any implemented solution proves inefficient during testing, it will be replaced, so the final changelog may differ.
Release Date:
The beta version of update 0.10.X is scheduled for March. I’m working on it a few hours a day, so it should be ready for release by then.
