Water Dragon – FREE STL for All Members

Meet the Articulated Water Dragon – download it, print it, and bring this fluid, serpentine creature to life!

This model is designed as a fully articulated, print-in-place figure, meaning no assembly is required. Straight off the print bed, it features smooth, flexible movement across its entire body, mimicking the natural flow of a water dragon.

Its detailed scales and elegant, wave-like form make it both a satisfying fidget toy and an eye-catching display piece. Every joint is carefully engineered to move freely while maintaining strength and durability.

The design is optimized for support-free printing, so you can start printing immediately without extra setup or post-processing. Just slice, print, and enjoy.

Whether you keep it as a clean raw print or paint it with aquatic tones for added realism, the Articulated Water Dragon is a unique addition to any collection.

The Water Dragon also scaled down very well for a 220×220 mm build plate. 🐉 I printed it on a Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro at 86% scale — final size about 217.79 × 213.22 × 30.84 mm. I tried different filaments and both 0.15 mm and 0.2 mm layer height. Everything printed well and the articulation works great. The slicer only suggested repairing 45 open edges. For commercial-quality printed figures, I feel that glass eyes would make a big difference. The original model eyes seem to be around 2 mm, but it would be great to have a version with sockets for glass eyes. Kogi3D, could you please help with a glass-eye version, while keeping it optimized to fit a 220×220 mm build plate?

Thank you for the detailed feedback and for sharing your print settings! 😊 It’s great to hear that the Water Dragon scaled down so well and that the articulation still works perfectly at 86%. Regarding the glass eyes, most slicers have a feature that allows you to create custom sockets directly in the model. For example, in Bambu Studio, you can select the dragon, right-click, choose Add Negative Part → Cylinder, then scale the cylinder to the exact diameter you need and position it where the eyes are. I believe OrcaSlicer has the same or a very similar feature as well. Since everyone uses different eye sizes and print scales, it’s difficult for me to provide versions covering every possible combination. Using negative parts in the slicer is probably the most flexible solution. 😊 That said, I really appreciate the suggestion and will definitely keep glass-eye compatibility in mind for future designs! 🐉
