This time I’m sharing something a little different from my usual articulated models. With the holidays coming up, I wanted to create and share this elegant set of 3D-printed icicle ornaments with everyone. Each design features a smooth, twisted shape that catches the light beautifully, creating a frosted, crystal-like effect especially when printed in silk or translucent filaments.

The set includes three unique icicle designs that complement each other perfectly for a balanced, premium-looking Christmas tree display.

✨ Two-Part Design (Easy Assembly)

Each icicle is printed in two separate pieces:

  • Main icicle body

  • Cap with integrated clip

Simply glue the cap onto the top of the icicle. The built-in clip allows you to:

  • Attach a decorative ribbon (as shown in the photos)

  • Hang the ornament on your tree using string, rope, or hooks

This design makes the ornaments versatile, customizable, and easy to display.

🖨️ Printing Recommendations

  • Ideal materials: silk PLA or translucent PLA

  • No supports required

  • 0% infill

  • Layer height: 0.15 mm

  • Walls/perimeters: 2

  • Ensure vertical shell thickness is disabled

  • Standard 0.4 mm nozzle works perfectly

  • For added stability, use an inner brim when printing the caps

  • TIP: When using translucent PLA, turn off cooling and slow the print way down—this improves layer fusion and gives the clearest, smoothest icicle finish.

The icicle bodies include built-in breakaway supports, which should be trimmed off cleanly at the base after printing.
