Oh Jesus... I think I've never been so emotionally invested in a 40K character like with O'Shen... I feel like I'm on the verge of literally crying. IMHO he's the perfect synthesis of what the T'au are, with all their nuances and contradictions, and why I love them. Plus, you don't usually see a 40k charatcer dying of old age... Great touch as usual!
Selfishness is perfectly natural, and it's healthy to have a small measure of it. It just has to be kept under control like any emotion. Mara understands this I think. O'Shen, for all his wisdom, can still learn new things like that.

I find it somewhat entertaining that the background image appears to be a lotus or similar type of water flour which in fact only grow in stagnant water.
He is very afraid of death but he will not say it under the belief that it is shameful to acknowledge his personal desires (it is really forbidden or just an expression of fanaticism?)
I see that Shen isn't considering how his Death may affect those closest to him.
Man it really sucks that most of the tau only live to about 45-50. Well at least it sucks for the good ones.
I've always loved how conflicted and kind of hypocritical Shen is. You write the characters im these really well, the way they act is very true to both the real world and 40k.
I love Mara, I hope she takes those rejuvenating drugs.
Uh, who is the one speaking in the last two panels? I want to believe that it's Mara who is be firm for once in stating what she believes before bidding him goodbye, but the way the panels are composed, it can just as easily be that Shen is calling out Mara as not believing her own words and firmly ending the discussion with a goodbye.

I lean towards Shen's perspective but that's much easier in the macro view than when it's someone you care about
Oh, that's sad. The older I get the better I understand this principle of letting next generation grow. But whatever is your treatment of your life - you can't forbid youth from evaluating it and preventing your death if they deem yourself valuable. Just as you can't stop the river by freezing a cup of water in it's flow.
