'I aspire machine' vs Real machine
About Ironkin getting drunk:
It was one of the few occasions that Lutar felt apart from his flesh-and-blood kin. The enjoyment of eating and drinking – particularly the imbibing of the stimulant-alcohol known generally as brü – was an element of Kin society in which he could not partake and would never be able to emulate, no matter how sophisticated his neural computational network.
There were some Ironkin who had found simulated substitutes that, when paired with semi-random subroutines, could induce something akin to the unpredictability and loss of restraint associated with insobriety.

pale imitations would rather be in AA, meanwhile the ones that know ball are working on ways to make themselves drunk
I remember reading something similar about a droid in a Star Wars book. I-5YQ, it's in the book "Medstar" I think ?
I love this take and contrast, so many content creators try to make machine people either long to be human, be insecure of their sintetic nature or as machines that look down on organics. You portray the Iron kin exactly as the lore shows them, as machine people who are confident in their nature and identity who do not envy or loathe the organics but instead get along with them as friends and manage to find common grounds. I wish other sci-fy works also used this take.
"From the moment I understood the weakness of the flesh, it fascinated me."
I craved the unpredictability of being drunk...
Incredible work!
Wait utar is an iron kin? Utar the destined?
Different guy, they're just both bold guy with with beard
It's funny, because the machine the Mechanicus is generally trying to emulate is usually disgusted with the pale imitation, having just finished reading the Death of Integrity.
AI homie just wants to be one of the boys
What about the other type of machine <<
What other type??
That's adorable
