It's truly spectacular

In the most generous interpretation he's working off the assumption that we will all pivot qr codel like technology to read every type of image scanning it in a database for its data as an NFT, and the assumption layered on top of it is that there will be a sentimental value attributed to certain digital assets and receipts; like the digital receipt to a plane ticket that crashed and whether or not someone would be macabrely interested in the technicality of ownership for it. Though also not because he's saying that the actual value will come from the art itself which would need companies to sign off on unnecessary and potentially expensive amounts of work (contingent on them not just generating it from machine learning image and video generators and that people are sentimental about the prompt that was used to make it), so its value comes from the same aesthetic appeal that a vintage bottle of coke would have. This type of LinkedIn posting always makes me smile. I was upset when the Wham City Comedy collective dissolved, but I'm happy to see that their sense of humor lives on as life imitates art.
Why wouldn't the end user just BUY ART
I had a beautiful Miiiiiiinnnd
I was actually just thinking about this Gary V quote a few days ago. When I first heard the quote it was in a video of his sales pitches, sandwiched in between his list of accomplishments and the insistence that flipping yard sale/thrift store goods on eBay was the fastest path to millionaire status he could think of. I hadn't bothered to learn what an NFT actually was yet, but Gary's conviction when he said it made it seem so REASONABLE. The quote stuck in my brain. Knowing what I know now, the statement "Your movie ticket will be an NFT soon." is actually too stupid to interact with.
In addition to not knowing how QR codes work, I'm also assuming Gary V doesn't know how restaurants and flights work, because I've never been to a restaurant that didn't have regular physical menus available, and you can still check in for your flight at the airport terminal and get a paper boarding pass with a barcode on it, I literally just did that yesterday.
POV: Open Mic Night 🔥
Barcodes and QR-Codes are literally only numbers and letters, a scanner is a faster Keyboard. If you change the language settings or even use Capslock with the output changes.
It seems like it would be remarkably uncomfortable to lay down on your drill case. Aside from Gary V's breathtaking lack of sophistication, what brought about this confluence of events?
This close up shot has me asking a lot of questions about how you eat with a moustache that long. Brainstorming here: straw, just get food in your moustache and clean it frequently/sometimes/wait till the end, big mouth style, I guess avoiding some foods is on the table (but seems like more work than a trim.)
‘X doesn’t know what y is, yet we allow this man to have power and influence’ is a nice summary of where the 21st century is at atm
Gary V does not care nor need to know how or why QR codes work, he's a grifter and a professional bullshitter who, at that point, identified an opportunity to shill crypto with a story that, like all crypto stories, does not need to make actual sense except to those who also don't understand (or indeed want to understand) anything, and also desperately want you to buy into crypto.
Someday all our hats will be pizzas and the world will be a better and richer place
I am desperately resisting the urge to go *eats ur hat om nom nom* like it's 2004
Thanks Gary V, I'm now a little dumber than I was before.
There's got to be a word (probably German) that describes the feeling when you hear something so utterly, incomprehensibly stupid, that your brain has to reboot amidst an overwhelming feeling of giddy resignation.
We have to be erschüttert (devastated). But, to my dismay, not what you suggested.
A tech exec makes a *~thought leadership~* post and a thousand sys admins cry out in anguish somewhere. Also, everything from the angle of this video to the drill(?) to the existential disbelief at a LinkedIn post really speaks to me on a "11PM on a Tuesday trying to fix my bloody dishwasher again" kinda way.
I have never related to anything more in my life than the urge to lay on the floor next to a drill and contemplate a nonsensical LinkedIn post. I feel seen.
(To be far more fair than the thought deserves, there are people out there who collect (extremely specific) concert tickets or train tickets, and so I'm sure that someone has paid non-zero cents for a used ticket from some specific PanAm flight. But non-zero is several orders of magnitude from anything that is within eight steps of illogic to what the subject post is vaguely gesturing toward.)
I read the "an artist attached to it" in a "woah, a famous person had this". But yeah, absolutely, it doesn't make the G5 post any more reasonable :)
Now that I think about it, he's practically an LLM, stringing together words in a optimal way to get people listening without actually understanding the meaning of those words
I think you can shorten the conclusion of this video to "Gary V doesn't know, yet people listen to him."
Based on the drill on the floor, 100% this is Dan doing some renovations but he's so distracted by this intrusive thought so he makes this video
I appreciate the confirmation that Dan also has seen münecat's Gary V video
I think this post did Dan some damage 😞
Brings me back to the Mikkelsen twins video, specifically to how low the standards are to sell people advice. If you do it for clout it doesn't even need to be accurate. You can just outright lie or say nonsense and people will think you're a visionary because you're saying things no one else is saying.
Is that a munecat shout out
The vibe of this is very much, “I got tired of everything in the middle of trying to do home improvements and decided to lie down with my head by my drill and talk about NFTS” and I relate to that a lot.
Impeccable vibes
There are a lot of different interpretations of what that post could mean, and every single one of those is utterly mind-boggling. My brain chemistry is permanently altered by exposure to this post.
This angle and posture is all very relatable content to me this week
