Line Goes Up ePub

Hello everyone, this was a popular request that took regrettably long  for me to get around to. Do note that this is not the "book version" of Line Goes Up, but a formatting of the transcript. I've been trying to come up with a good format for distributing transcripts and Line goes Up seemed like a good candidate for testing ePub as a format, so this is admittedly a bit of an experiment.

I've checked it on a few different devices and it should behave itself for the most part, I'm new to the specifics of ebook delivery, but barring any major problems I'll be spreading this more publicly in a few days.

It's great, Dan. I'm working on a spanish translation, if someone wants to lend a hand.

Thank you so much. It opens in Adobe Digital Editions just fine, and I'll port it to my kobo e-reader tomorrow. Thank you for this. And for the video. You helped me make the case to a major UK cultural institution that they need to take a stand on NFTs - and not a lackadaisical one. I don't know if they will, but they can't say they don't know. Thanks, Dan.

That's awesome! Works well on MacOS Monterey v12.3, at least for me. Thank you for enabling us to CTRL+F your script and quote Line Goes Up easier in conversations about crypto and NFT, I know I'll use it for sure!

This is great, I was hoping to get a transcript! As someone who writes about crypto, I have the highest regard for the way you treated the subject matter and explain it. I have shared this video with many other journos in the space -- and reactions have mostly been positive btw.

You may consider using a service called Bookfunnel to distribute your epubs if you decide to continue down this route. We use it at the small publishing company I work at and it's great. It has a nice reader app and everything. Cheap too!

Thank you! I don’t remember if I’ve asked this before, but could we help translating the video? I could contribute to a French version of the caption.

Which app can you use to open it on Android? My phone is saying no thank you

It should work in Play Books: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.books

This will help exactly no one else, but l just found out that someone made an epub mode for emacs, a text editor from 1976. (elpa-nov in apt). _Line Goes Up_ loads and reads pretty well in it, if you're into that sort of thing.

Works fine on EPubReader on Chrome. Thanks for this! Excited to have a written copy.

Fantastic. FYI I was able to get it working fine on Calibre for Windows 10.

Oh! After closing and re-opening Books, I see that Line Goes Up is not there. I drag the epub into the "All" and it immediately shows up and looks available, but the small print above says "Importing 1 of 1, failed 0". There is no progress bar or anything, but after about 20 seconds, the status goes away and I can open the book.

I had the same problem. After download, it opened right into Books, but then a double click flashed the cover in a new window and immediately closed.

The "Books" app on my Mac loads it into its library, but won't open it.

Interesting, what MacOS version are you on?

Looks good in Calibre's built-in ePub reader.

Mine opened as PDF on iBooks and looks great. Thank you for your continued hard work.

Thanks, Dan. This video seemed like it would be one of the year's (and last year's) big defining essays, and I have to admit, I got lost amid all the dense, stupid, details in your video. Hopefully reading it slowly (with Excedrin handy) will help me to better understand just how this thing caught on as big as it did.
