An unnecessarily long post about sunglasses.

To hold you over in these trying times, you can listen to me ranting about little things. Feel free to skip this one if you don't feel like reading, this is more of a blogpost.
Remember when Natalya used to wear sunglasses? Good times. You know, when I wrote the script (around a year ago now), I felt a little sad having her take off her glasses permanently so early into the story. But when I started making the game, I was kinda glad to have them gone. I just don't think they look good on her, and also I think they hide too much of the face, which was fine early on because I wanted her character to have a tiny bit of mystery when you first meet her. They do come with a neat perk and that is that you don't have to perfectly point the eyes at the camera (you have no idea how surprisingly hard it is to get that right), which is something you have to deal with in first person POV. In a 3rd person game you can just have them look in the general direction and nobody will notice a thing, but in first person if she's not looking exactly at your eyes down to the millimeter it looks very uncanny. I don't remember if I did take the lazy approach of not having her look at you exactly when having her glasses on, because the glasses are indeed translucent but I don't think you can actually ever see through them except for the image above. All that said I do like and intend to still keep the sunglasses on her for the banner of this here humble page, for old times' sake. Of course I have no plans for her putting them back on in the actual game, except maybe for a tiny moment to look cool, who knows.
However, as always, you're free to voice your opinion on the matter with a comment saying "PLEASE PLEASE OH PLEASE GIVE HER BACK THE SHADES I NEED IT", because for all I know you have a deep-rooted sunglasses fetish after an intense experience with a biker girl at a gas station 15 years ago.
