Newbie question - What is the correct MAME set to use? I've yet to get any to working fully or am I being dumb!
Hello, I had previous version 1.7.x fully working on RPi3b with RGB Pi 2. I followed all instructions to update and I got black screen on my CRT. So I tried to make a clean install from scratch on my SD 128 GB but it doesn't work neither on CRT through RGB-Pi 2 nor connected to a standard LCD (in this latter case I got message that the video signal is not 1920x980 60Hz). I tried several time to flash the SD card wirth same results. Could be a problem of the image? Someone with same probleam? I'm regretting updating. Everything was working flawlessly before...
This issue is caused by a kernel/firmware bug that affects the HDMI pixel clock across all Raspberry Pi 3, 4, and 5 models, with the Pi 3 being the most severely affected. It can cause black screens during boot, image distortion, and prevent NRR—which will be renamed to GRR in the next release—from working correctly. To fix it manually, edit /boot/firmware/config.txt and replace: force_turbo=1 with: core_freq_fixed=1
Hello RTA, replay_bios_v9.zip is not available on https://archive.org/download/replayos-bios .Is there any other internet address where we can download it? Thanks in advance.

;) we all need: replay_bios_v9.zip
Greetings. BIOS package v9.0 - did some uploaded it to archive.org yet? Thanks.
Hi everyone, Version 1.8.0 isn't working on my Raspberry Pi 3+; I'm getting a black screen, and it fails to detect the 15kHz signal for my CRT TV. I'm using a Ugreen HDMI-to-VGA adapter and a Bitfunx RGBS VGA-to-Component transcoder. On an LCD TV, it defaulted to 35Hz—I didn't quite understand that either. I tried updating using the file in the "extra" folder and also performed a clean install, but I encountered the same issues with both methods. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Thanks.
I had the same problem with the same equipment version 1.8.0. It doesn't work on my Raspberry Pi 3+. I tried updating using the extra file and performing a clean install, but nothing worked.
ReplayOS supports horizontal and vertical dual-monitor layouts, which work amazingly well for multi-display setups made up of CRT monitors. I’ve even tried a four-screen configuration, and the immersive effect was absolutely stunning. That said, there’s one minor letdown: the gaps between screens break immersion. If the system added a feature to adjust for bezels/screen gaps, the experience would be incredible. I’ve experimented by calibrating my CRT monitors manually, and the results were fantastic. I hope the dev team sees this suggestion—thank you!
i do not find bios v8
Hello RTA, from the v1.7.1 changelog there's a new bios pack: replay_bios_v8.zip. Where I can find it? On https://archive.org/details/replayos-bios only biospack v.7 is avalable. Let me know. Thank you for this wonderfull job !!!
mil gracias!!!
Hello RTA, I'm trying to use ALPHA PLAYER with a Raspberry PI 4. The video is ok but the audio performances are orrible (a lot of crackling sound). I read in the F.A.Q. that is a software-based core, but what can I do to optimize it fixing this crackling sound? I used a ubuntu distro with my rapsberry and SMplayer and no problem at all playing movies. Since the rapsberry used is the same hardware, do you plan to make it usable also on PI4? Thanks in advance.
Some performance improvements are planned, but it will never run perfectly smoothly on a Pi 4. Its CPU is not powerful enough to handle video playback reliably through software decoding alone. Ubuntu provides hardware decoding support for many different GPU models, but I cannot simply support all of them, and I do not have the time to maintain that work. Adding hardware decoding support for multiple Raspberry Pi GPU models would be complex, very time-consuming, and could easily introduce regressions or new bugs.
If the quick save feature could be set with a hotkey, that would be perfect.
Hello RTA, so far everything works really good with 1.6.2, except: I wanted to play a PAL SNES game on my LG 4K TV. If I set VRR and LCD/NRR, it sticks to 2160p 29.97 or 30fps (and everything lags because I'm on a RPi4). I don't even need 4K, I just needed 1080p50 but I can't find a way to force it on a 4K/UHD screen, while on 50Hz-compatible HD monitors I can because 1080p it's indeed their native resolution + NRR of the game. I know my TV supports 1080p50, I tested it. Is there a way to force 1080p50 or even 720p50 for PAL games on 4K/UHD screens? Another workaround (glitches aside) would be a "force 60Hz" for the SNES core while keeping Europe as the region, otherwise so many games just give you the classic incompatibility warning. Sorry for the long post, thanks for the hard work!
This is already changed for the next version since max resolution should not be greater than 1080p. You cab check the github for all opened issues
hello goodfriend。I update to 1.62,than my old real time save Disappear。and this function ( real time save)can not do it。
It was warned in the changelog. You just need to manually move/rename the existing save files: IMPORTANT: You must manually rename your existing saves for them to work (e.g., Aladdin.sms.srm → Aladdin.srm, Aladdin.sms.sst1 → Aladdin.sst1).
Hello RTA, any plans for adding a core for Atari 8-bit line of computers (400/800 etc)? Thanks!
Updated to v1.6.1 via internal updater. Now i keep getting Core Errors in MAME, Final Burn Neo, Dreamcast and Playstation. Also M3U files are not used anymore. Alpha Player gives Core Error too.
1.6.0 version flashed successfully with Raspberry PI Imager without unzip it
version 1.6.0 grabada con rapsbery pi imager en su ultima version si q funciona
confirmo, sin problemas
No me funciona la 1.6, grabada con rapsbery pi imager
version 1.6.0 grabada con BalenaEtcher sale corrupta!
I use Raspberry PI Imager
muchas gracias
Gracias por la 1.6.0. Me gustaría saber cómo se quema la imagen para SSD. Muchas gracias. PD : La imagen no funciona, no salen las carpetas
Muito obrigado por essa nova versão
Raspberry Pi 5 with RePlayOS 1.5.0 no audio here too!
there is no HDMI audio here too.
In version 1.5.0 I noticed two issues: Zero Delay / Zero Lag USB arcade encoders are no longer properly recognized. ( 1.3 and 1.4 works fine) Native TATE (vertical) games (e.g. Gals Panic, Psychic 5) cannot be rendered correctly on a landscape CRT. Currently the only available options seem to be: 4:3 stretch / fit (distorted image) TATE rotation There is no option to render these games with the correct aspect ratio using side black bars (pillarboxing). On RGB-Pi, vertical games are handled correctly: the image is centered with side black bars, allowing them to be played on a landscape CRT without rotating the monitor. All those games works fine on RGB PI OS I tried all available video settings but couldn’t achieve this behavior. Is there a configuration that enables this, or could this be considered for implementation?
It’s great that you can enable audio on both HDMI ports, which is useful when mirroring the screen. One HDMI port is for the RetroTink4k, the other is connected to a CRT TV via adapters. Unfortunately, on one of the HDMI ports, the audio is noticeably delayed when mirroring the screen. The second issue is the problematic detection of the X-Arcade Tankstick. For it to work properly, I have to disconnect it and reconnect it. And even then, the trackball doesn’t always work. The solution used in Mister FPGA is much more convenient. Controllers are assigned in the order in which any button is pressed on subsequent controllers. This offers great flexibility. I have 10 different controllers connected via a USB hub and, depending on the emulator or game I’ve chosen, I select the most convenient controller. I don’t know if this is even possible with ReplayOS, but it’s very convenient. Overall, the system is brilliant and offers huge possibilities. I don’t have many favourite arcade games on Mister, or they don’t work properly – e.g. Galaxian, Vastar, etc. Now I can play them.
Thanks
Thank you for all your hard work so far. I've had an issue since at least version 1.3.0 with the PS1 emulator. When I select Analog or DualShock as the controller type, the action buttons (in this example, square) stops working. I'm using an 8bitdo controller with USB dongle. Any ideas what is causing this? Thanks!
No idea, I can properly select any controller type and all is working fine. I never got any similar report from anybody else and I know there are many many users playing PSX games. Try removing any existing input mapping -> restart -> map again becasue you could have old maping file from previous releases before a big change introduced in 1.3.0
The FBNEO arcade folder breaks when accessing it, what to do? replay os 1.4
Will be fixed in next release
When flashing the SD card to a new version all of the existing files are obviously gone. Is there a way around that? I haven't found any mentioning of the update process on the website. I understand, using NFS is one workaround but still
Hi, each updated version is a fresh install as there is not an "update option". On my side, I'm using the SD card for ReplayOS only and NVME for bios and roms. In this way, each version upgrade, you only have to restore your system preferences in a few clicks and nothing more.
Anyone knows which purpose have the two option : RBPI2 reset and autoreset and WHICH IS THE DIFFERENCE ? RGBPI2 reset it was until 1.3.0 whereas autoreset has been added into 1.4.0...Curiously there is not any info on 1.4.0 changelog about this option and there is not any description into OS..... Has someone the answer ?
The FBNEO arcade folder breaks when accessing it, what to do? replay os 1.4
same problem, for me also the mame folder breaks. I'm back to 1.3.0
Awesome! I seem to be having trouble locating that replay_bios_v5.zip file you mentioned tho :(
Whoops my bad. It's spelled out clearly on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ReplayOS/comments/1o5oek3/all_links_and_setup_guide/
Thank you very much for this great distribution. I have the RGB-Pi 1 connected via DPI to a Raspberry Pi 5, and it works perfectly. I wanted to try the GunCon; it detects it, but it seems like it’s not receiving the sync signal. Is it possible that it doesn’t work with the RGB-Pi 1?
Sytem crashes everytime I select mame or fbneo. Other systems works fine, games listed on favorites from mame and fbneo starts, I guess it has issues at showing a long game list? Works fine when I put back the 1.3.0. Using Raspberry Pi 5 with external USB ssd drive and bios pack v5.
Same problem for me too.... raplay os crashes when try to open mame or Final burn folders... other system was ok! mame or FB games in favourites works fine! Only SD cards. can we do somethings for help? Thanx
Thanks RTA I can't wait to install and test all !!!!
will you create someday add compatibility for x64 on regular pcs?
Thanks RTA for this fast release !!!
Hello RTA, is there any hope to have Daphne emulator support (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Don Quix ote etc) in Replayos 1.4.0 ? Thanks again for your patience.
There’s not Daphne core

Valeu demais, você salvou meu dia! Gratidão por disponibilizar, vai ajudar bastante quem está explorando o RePlayOS. É ótimo ver pessoas contribuindo com a comunidade!
I have tried over and over again to make this work on my Pi 4 8GB but I never get anything but a black screen on both my HDMI port (I'm using a Argon ONE case with two full size HDMI ports). I have flashed my SD card over and over again but no luck. But if I flash it with something like Raspberry Pi OS or even the RGB-Pi OS I've got no issues and everything works fine. When flashing my SD card with ReplayOS 1.3 I noticed that if I use the .gz file I always get an error in the end with both balenaEtcher and Raspberry Pi Imager. But if I extract the .gz file to .img and flash using that instead I get no errors. I've tried re-downloading the image file several times. I'm on MacOS. When booting up my Pi4 with the ReplayOS flashed on the SD card I have waited 5, 10 and 30 min. as well as 7 hours but still getting no more than a black screen. Though the black screen sends some kind of input to my monitor making the backlight light up a bit and the system info on the monitor tells me there's an active connection at a resolution of 1024x768. Also when booting up the Pi with the newly flashed SD card I get the Raspberry Pi BIOS screen for a split second before the screen goes black, so there's definitely some kind of output. If I take the SD card back into my computer again I can see that it has successfully made all the files and folders as expected. I've followed the Common Issues on the website, but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.
0.1.4.0 status It says : "this release will act as the foundation for some major internal changes on replayOS..." Great !
Hi RTA, I had underrated it but after trying ReplayOS with RGBPI2 for several days, I can say without no doubt that this system is very slim, easy to manage and fast. No bells and whistles or other, just a plug-and-play system and that's it. Maybe it is a little bit spartan ( some game thumbnails and screesaver game slide like RGBPI OS4 would be nice ) but maybe it would be out of the "slim" philosophy....( anyway, if you can consider thumbnails and screensaver in the next release )....Thanks
Hello, I tested the Replay OS system on Neo Geo and Neo Geo CD cores, and they were slow on my Raspberry Pi 3. On other systems, such as RetroPi, it works perfectly... Is there any estimated time for a fix for this problem? I'm asking because I loved using Replay OS... thank you for the excellent work.
NeoGeo works fine in Pi3. You need the official power adapter and/or disable the low latency mode.
Hello and thank you so much for 1030. Realplay Is an impressive job !!! For me is becomed my favourite emulator !!! I naver seen a job like this . All works perfect !!! I would like to know, about Alpha Player fix, when the fix will come out or if there's a fix that can be applied right now. It's a shame that can't be used for the audio problem. let me know. Thank you in advance.
It will be fixed on next version
hi, i tried all 3 versions, but i got black screen i have pi4 and vga666 compatible adapter to convert signal for crt monitor, any suggestion ?? thanks in advance
Check the official web site. It explains the two steps procedute required for enabling the GPIO interface
Hello, would possible to add support on next release for joystick TheQuickshot II USB by Retro Games LTD please? Here you are technical data: VID: 14D8 PID: CD07 Full hardware ID: HID\VID_14D8&PID_CD07\6&2B9D5B43&0&0000 The product is this one: https://retrogames.biz/products/thequickshot-ii/ Many thank in advance Best regards Roberto from Italy
Once you create the mapping, you can send the user mapping db file via gitlab request
Hi all, each time I start ReplayOS it starts on 16/9. video_aspect_ratio is already set to full screen 4:3 but the image is 16/9. No big matter as I can switch to 4/3 by using the remote control and that's it but it is a strange behaviour.....Is there a setting to change the automatic 16/9 ? Thanks
This has nothing to do with RePlay. This is the standard behavior of all CRT TVs that have 16:9 when a device uses the 5v pin to auto power on the TV.
Dear team, first of all, congratulations on ReplayOS — it’s fantastic and incredibly fast. I have a few questions (perhaps a bit naive), but I haven’t been able to find clear answers. If you don’t mind replying, it would really help me a lot. When I load a game and then decide to switch to another one, I press Start + Select to scroll through the menu. I would prefer the previously launched game to close automatically (as it used to happen in RGB-Pi OS 4). I find it a bit inconvenient to choose a new game while something is still running in the background. Maybe there is an option for this, but I couldn’t find it. Is there a summary or list of available command shortcuts, such as Start + Select, within the interface or documentation? When new versions of ReplayOS are released (for example version 1.4), how will upgrades be handled? Please don’t tell me I’ll have to rewrite everything, or I might have a heart attack with a 512 GB card 😄. Are you planning to release any custom themes? The ones in RGB-Pi OS were really beautiful. It would have been helpful to have a note indicating that some ROM sets are not visible when they are compressed. A HUGE THANK YOU if you decide to reply, and once again congratulations on the great work.
re: upgrades, it would seem it was designed to be optimal for a small SD card to hold (and reflash upgrades to) ReplayOS itself and a larger USB drive to hold roms and other content, thus saving the nightmare scenario of recopying 512GB of data ;)
Hora de fazer a PI3B chorar com a nova versão
link bios do 1.030
Hi all, is there a way to have the game images into screensaver instead of color slide ? Thanks
Just a curiosity, why there is no mode: TV & PC 50Hz for PC monitors or TVs that support native 50Hz but not G-Sync / FreeSync ?
You don't need G-Sync/FreeSync. As long as you've set ReplayOS for VRR, it will use whatever refresh rate the core requests automatically.
Any Changelog for 1.3 ?
Yes in the official webasite
Is it possible to hide empty folders to tidy up the menu? Also name clean-up would cool; not sure how intensive that is but ES-DE has options to hide things in brackets etc
I am interested in this as well.
Thanks for the new release
Ola. Haverá versão Jamma do replayOS?
Hi RTA, into the next OS release could you kindly add a skip the game direct to OS without reboot ( if I remeber well, RGBPI OS4 had this option into game menu ) and a direct crt horizontal size and shift withot reboot each time you change a value..Recalbox already does so it could be possibile in Replayos as well. Thanks
Not sure what you mean by "skip the game direct to OS without reboot". CRT horizontal size and shift requires game restart (not OS reboot) since these are physical CRT beam configurations. No idea what other systems do but it is probably software scaling and/or movement, otherwise you need to restart. BTW RePlay also have software X/Y adjustment in realtime.
Hi RTA, a quick question : which is the button to return to ReplayOS from game session ? Thanks again
Select and Start together bring up a menu that can reboot from.
Is this compatible with the composite video header on the pi5?
No, composite is not compatible
OSA Electronics reference RGB-PI OS as working with their SCART Hat (https://www.osaelectronics.com/learn/rgberry-quick-start-guide/#rgb) - is ReplayOS likely to work with this hat as well? Thanks in advance :)
Assuming it is using same DPI mode configuration as original RGB-Pi, yes, it should work
replay o.s 1.1.0 does not work on a Iconic Arcade RPi4 inside but the sd card works on Pi3B+
Obrigado!
thank you for the great work , cant wait to receive my order
Can I use ReplayOS on Raspberry Pi Zero 2w?
como faço para criar pastas de emuladores que não estão na build, ex. : WonderSwan Color
Hi all, someone of you has still tried if MD+ games ( Megadrive rom + CD quality audio files ) can be played on ReplayOS with RGBPi2 on CRT TV ? ( I don't care LCD screen with HDMI, only CRT TV with RGBPi2 ) Thanks
paprium rom work on replay o.s 1.1.0
Hi, two questions : 1) are you using a Paprium rom + MP3 files or rom file only ? 2) are you using a CRT TV with RGBPi2 or LCD with HDMI ? They are not still ship my RGBPi2 and I don't know if and when I'll receive it so until then, I'm not able to try anything by myself.......Thanks
Ola, feliz ano antecipado. O ReplayOs será compativel com o Retrotink Ultimate? Estou preste a comprar um RGB Pi 2 e gostaria de tirar essa dúvida.
Congratulations, and thank you for the great work!
Feliz Natal para Todos, existe alguma forma de atualizar o sistema de forma automática sem precisar ter que ficar regravando o sistema no cartão?
Nao, tem que regravar
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU !!!!
Is anyone knows when RGBPi2 will be shipped out ? I have placed an order on 19/12 but they did not yet arrange any shipment..... I have already sent three emails to contact@mortaca.com but they did not reply until now....
He was sick if I’m not wrong but please use the RGB-Pi Telegram channel or Discord for these questions. I’m not the hardware creator and this space is for RePlayOS. Thanks and merry Christmas
Any way we can get samba support? Dealing with NFS, ownership, and permissions is a real headache.
How to save ReplayOS settings like root's password (i've changed it) and NAS settings for can do un update without lose them?
I burned the image to my card using balenaEtcher, which went well on my Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 8GB (bootloader 57db150d 2025/11/05), however the screen stays black for minutes and the system doesn't load! After setting [pi4] to "Default" in the "config.txt" file, the system created the "replay" partition in exFAT with all the necessary folders, but it still doesn't get past the black screen when loading ReplayOS! # Default: # arm_freq=1500 (old model) # arm_freq=1800 (new model) # v3d_freq=500 # Stable Overclock: # arm_freq=1900 # v3d_freq=560
Balenaetcher didn’t work for me, twice with two different sd cards. I used the Raspberry Pi Imager and it worked at first attempt.
Hi, where can I check the changelog ? Thanks !
https://www.replayos.com/changelog/
How do I update without losing my data (saves, settings, etc.)?
If you are using an external unit, you won't lose any game data. Only replay options need to be reconfigured if you changed any
did not work for my RPi5 and jamma connector, SD card flashes for a few seconds and pi shuts off.
I'm having the same problem, the img is good. My pi 5 is connected to crt via Recalbox RGB jamma. Just get black screen, but I removed the sd card and it worked on my pi 400 on lcd screen?
Thank you and congratulations on all the hard work!
QUE GRANDEEEEE RTA!! saludos!
saludos RTA , congrats
It's happening! Already ordered my RGB-Pi2!
Thanks. Merry Christmas.
The Pi400 keyboard does not seem to work with this release
I really hope that will be fixed in later versions, I want to use it with Amiga and C64.. does RePlayOS seem to work okay otherwise with Pi400?
Fantastic. Thanks. Merry Christmas.
