NPCAI 3.1 brings several new features. Some of these new features include:
Gemini 3.1 Flash for more instantaneous responses, better PED audio, & smarter AI
New ambient speech feature
New visual context feature for peds to see what's on your screen
New Emergency Personnel keybind
New "call-a-friend" action (for PR only):
New Partner and Emergency Personnel call-out capabilities (both PR & STP)
New PED "get in" and "get out" of players patrol car on command
New swap seats/switch seats action for driver and passenger to change seats
New Partner and Backup frisk capability (for PR only)
Dismiss NPC full rework and new Dismiss NPC Keybind

A new HOTFIX has been uploaded - NPCAI 3.1.1
Here's a list of the fixes:
• Created new external transcription file so users can now translate the dismiss phrases to their language of choice and customize the phrases so that they don't inadvertently call the dismiss action during conversation.
• Fixed PEDS dismissing when cuffed. Now PEDS cannot be dismissed at any time if they're handcuffed.
• Fixed issue with Gemini socket going to sleep after a short time. This new fix addresses 90% of the situations. Note that Gemini has a socket time limit and there will be occasions where a double press might be needed.
• Fixed issue where PEDS don't talk during pursuits. NPCAI actions are still blocked since LSPDFR has control of them during pursuits, but I've re-enabled the audio, so you can now talk to them again during pursuits.
• Fixed Emergency Personnel not knowing their given name or the time of day.
• Fixed issue where Emergency Personnel were getting the civilian visual context injection causing confusion in how the officer responds to environmental situations. Now the Emergency Personnel have their own visual context injection.
• Fixed keybind logic error that prevented users from having modifier keys (ALT, Control, Shift) as main keybinds.
• Removed the yellow blip completely, so no more ghost yellow blips on the minimap.
• Fixed a bug in the PedPointToGo action. Now peds should properly go to the crosshair point.
• Added new in-game INI reload feature. If you change your keybind, you no longer have to ReloadAllPlugins. You can simply hit the keybind you set for this in-game and the INI will reload instantly. Same for the prompts.
A new HOTFIX has been uploaded - NPCAI 3.1.2
==== NPCAI 3.1.2 - Changelog ===
• Added new Gemini vision model - gemini-3.5-flash-lite - which gives you better vision recognition and more token usage. This should increase the amount of time you're able to use visual context in a single gameplay session.
• Added new AutoVisualContext flag in NPCI.ini. Setting to true turns visual context on when you exit your vehicle and turns off when you enter your vehicle. You can still turn visual context on and off manually using the keybind you set in the INI, regardless of the auto setting.
• Added new NPCAI_MDT_API.dll. This new API was designed specifically for MDT's so that MDT information doesn't get in the way of callout details reaching the peds during active callouts. This should hopefully fix all the callout issues where peds didn't know the details of the callouts.
• Added new transcription language setting in NPCI.ini. This will ensure Gemini uses the proper translation language when giving commands from the NPCI_Transcriptions file. This should fix the issue with peds not dismissing for users speaking other languages.
• Added new feature for PDComp. Now when you use the command to give back a licence/ID or give back papers/paperwork, the onscreen license will be removed automatically.
• Added new feature for PDComp - now when you say, "here's your copy of the citation", it will trigger PDComps built in citation action, which also clears the license off your screen at the end of the action.
• Added in new partner callouts for STP. Now in NPCAI 3.1.2, you can ask you partner to call for Backup, EMS, and Fire. ---Here's the full list of the available callouts: Backup / EMS / Fire / Tow / Transport / Coroner / Animal Control / Ped check / Plate check
• Changed the NPCAI license/ID action to use STP's built in license/ID action, so that MDT's will get populated with the suspects license information automatically.

Was wondering if anyone knows how to make it to where the peds will actually tell me what happen and own up to mistakes/crimes.
Hi there. That's not a fault of NPCAI, but rather a limitation of GTAV & Rage. There's no ragehook calls for a ped to be aware of what they're ambiently doing in game at the time you interact with them. If you're talking about callouts, callout developers that use my NPCAI API can add callout details to their mod that inject the peds with those details before you interact with them. There is a complete list of NPCAI compatible callout packs on my Discord server. As far as owning up to mistakes and crimes, you can modify the NPCI_GeminiPrompt.txt in the NPCI folder with specific instructions for the AI to go along with what the officer says - but note - that requires the player (you) to provide details to that ped during your interaction so they know how to RP it out with you. There are custom prompts for this on my Discord server, and you can also find them from Blueline (patreon), Gaming4Life (patreon), or on LSPDFR. I hope this helps.

Is there any possible way you could release a version that doesnt need LSPDFR to be on duty, so we can use it with Los Santos Red? It would still use RPH just not have to be on duty bcause that causes issues with LSR? Please man im begging lol

Hello, i really love ur work so first, thank you so much. Second, i have a problem that npcai refuses to work in the sense that the NPCs detect my voice but don't respond. I've looked into it and apparently you need to pay for the API key to get credits for it to work and for the AI to respond. Can u help me ?
Thank you so much for the kind words. It means the world to me. So NPCAI has worked on Gemini's free tier API keys for about 5 months until recently where it appears that Google doesn't like us users leeching off their AI for free anymore. The free tier keys are being throttled now, and ever since they had an outage 2 days ago, now all my users are experiencing constant disconnects on top of this. I have no friggin idea what the hell is going on over at Google. A workaround for now is to purchase a prepay tier key and putting in 5 to $10 to get unthrottled service. I have no idea when or if Gemini will fix the issue. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience. Feel free to join my Discord for support and create a ticket to discuss in greater detail.

You're talking about callouts. I created an API for callout authors to use that sends information about their callouts to the peds so that they respond appropriately. You need to use callouts that support NPCAI. The full list of supported callouts is on my Discord server.

Appreciate the kind words! Gemini is having issues today, but have also started throttling free tier keys. Once they work out the issue they're currently having, things will get better but the throttling will still continue most notably during peak hours. You can visit my Discord for more information. This is perfect I tried PedtalkAI but when I tried it was breaking my AIDispatch so I decided to use the original NPCAI when I used it didn’t break my AIdispatch so both of them work this mod is almost perfect

I’m using NPC AI 3.1.2, and I’ve been experiencing a few issues. Sometimes it takes quite a while for the NPC to respond, the voice freezes during speech, and sometimes the voice comes out cut off or incomplete. It doesn’t happen all the time — there are moments when everything works perfectly, and other times the communication gets really stuck. From what I’ve noticed, it seems like there may be an issue with the NPC AI’s communication/integration, because it doesn’t seem to be happening only to me. Is anyone else experiencing these problems with version 3.1.2? But even with these issues, I want to say great job! You’re awesome! 👏🔥 The project is getting really good, and I hope these small problems can be fixed in future updates. Keep up the great work!

Regarding your issue, yes it's on Gemini's side, but it's not a communications issue - it's Gemini throttling free tier keys. It appears Google has decided to stop giving away AI for free without some consequences. Users who prepay credits are having zero issues. It's only impacting free users and it's most noticeable during peak hours vs off peak hours. Sadly, there's nothing that can be done outside of paying for your Gemini usage or roughing it out for free during those high peak hours. I'm looking into other models (all paid) to see if I can find something cheaper to help. For now, just keep playing and hopefully you get some good sessions. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.

Ever since I've update to recent, when I try to talk to any ped their responses are choppy/lagging and cutting in and out. Never done that before. It doesnt last the whole session but when I load in, it takes a good 10 mins of just dealing with it until it straightens itself out lol. Dispatch and backup/fire/ems unaffected.

it's a visual context error due to Gemini server overload. Just disable it in the NPCI ini file. It doesn't have any impact in ped interactions.

Yes, change that to your language code, then translate the dismiss phrases in the NPCI transcriptions to swedish as well. That's all that ini block is used for. Don't translate the headers.

Hey there. NPCAI is compatible with STP, but any features dealing with their backup, like frisking and arresting are not possible since it's a closed API. The STP dev has never supported mod creators and has always locked down his mod/API. Sadly, that will not change. If you want full backup control, you'll need to switch over to PR, which does happily support mod developers using their API. There's a reason most new mods do not offer any support or compatibility with STP. Sorry my friend.

I don't understand, but if you are a first time player, go with NPCAI for policing redefined. Just make sure you install policing redefined and damage tracker framework, as covered in the install tutorial and also in the readme.

Gemini understands Danish, so there's no need for a specific language version. Just prompt them to speak in your language and you're good to go.
Im having an issue with 45-60 second delayed responses only sometimes. before and after updating from 3.0 to 3.1.2 the only thing i left the same was the API key should i generate a new key of is there a known fix? LSPDFR/PR
It's Gemini. It's impacting all users and all apps and mods that use Gemini. Join my discord and you can follow the announcement as well the conversations being had surrounding the issue. There's nothing you or I can do other than report it to Google and wait for them to fix the compute issue.

So it would seem this new version is clashing with something very strangely ive never experienced before... when i play with this new version trying to talk to a ped, it will randomly callout the panic buttom for all units to respond, realistic holster menu pops up (even though i have the menu for that disabled), and compulite by bejojo. Now when playing with the most previous version before this one, none of those issues are present. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Hi there. The code is the exact same between last version and this one. 3.1.2 only had a vision model change, new auto setup for vision, support for pd comp and 3 new backup callouts added for STP. Either way, I can't support you through Patreon comments, so please go over to my Discord, create a ticket and provide your ragelog so I can see what's reporting during this incidents. Make sure to provide the ragelog with each of these issues happening or it will be impossible to tell what's going on, especially since you're the only person who has reported this issue.
When i want to get a api key i cant because i dont have a gemini default project and when i want to create my own i have to pay and it doesnt work
Try a different browser or try it from your phone. Sometime regions can impact the creation.

It can, but I wouldn't recommend it. Most mods in LSPDFR don't support it and for the the trouble you'll encounter just for minimal graphic improvements, it's simply not worth it. I would strongly recommend you use legacy. LSPDFR only came out for enhanced a few months ago

NPCAI is an LSPDFR plugin. It only works when you go on duty.
Is it for Legacy or Enhanced?
Hi there. It can work on enhanced, but there's a ton of plugins that aren't compatible. I would strongly recommend to use legacy with LSPDFR. As it is, LSPDFR for enhanced only came out a few months ago.

I'm having an issue when I tell the NPC to call a ride that the ride's car will appear just sitting empty down the street marked with the yellow icon on the map. Try it from your phone and see if that helps. Are you US based? You can also try a VPN if it's a region issue.
Super awesome and I really appreciate your work!, although I’m finding some issues when I play, sometimes my interactions will disable the stop the ped menu and I am not able to use them when needed on certain npcs.
Thanks for the kind words. NPCAI doesn't have any code or ability to impact STP. STP is locked down so hard that I couldn't impact even it I wanted to. You still need to download and install policing redefined and damage tracker framework. NPCAI works "with" those mods. It's doesn't include them or install them for you. The readme has the links.

Hi there. This is because you don't have everything installed. The install video covered this issue specifically. You need to install policing redefined and damage tracker framework if you're using NPCAI "for" Policing Redefined. Join Discord for support if your still have issues.

Hi there! Appreciate the love! NPCAI works with or without a dispatch, though I would suggest having one so you don't have to go through PR or STPs menus to perform dispatch calls. Grammar police works fine for now and there are already 3 or 4 other dispatch mods out there as well and Blueline's comes out at the end of the month. I think we're covered on Dispatch.

Add this to the NPCI_Gemini_Prompt file and the NPCI_Emergency prompt file at the top - right after the first 2 lines. It's in the NPCI folder. Replace the text between the quotes with your preferred language. PREFERRED LANGUAGE: When the player talks to you, ONLY speak to them in "replace with your language here". You MUST always speak to the player in "replace with your language here". DO NOT respond back in "English" at any time.

Thanks for the love! NPCAI is disabled during pursuits since LSPDFR owns the ped and the scenario. In the hotfix update 3.1.1 , I re-enabled speech to work, just not actions. Are you on 3.1.1 or 3.1?

This a amazing mod, as ive played it ive seen so much cool stuff, one thing i do see is Stop the Ped variant doesn't have a good response time, it either glitches out or the ped or officer goes silent, Policing redefined is better but the responses are sometimes not generic, such as DOA, Detectives, and SWAT saying they are just regular street patrols or have no idea what's happening in front of them, similar with STP. This is not a criticize, just a observation and maybe some knowledge for future updates. Thank you for such a great mod. Im so proud of ya
Hey there! Thanks for the love. Response times are indetical between the 2 mods, both using Gemini 3.1. I don't control the response times though, Gemini does. If you're seeing difference between mod response times, it's most likely your setup differences between the 2. As far as the kind of repsonses, the prompts in the NPCI folder control all of that. I provided very generic default prompts so that player could customize to their liking. I would recommend that you play around with the prompts to get the emergency peds and civs to respond the way you want them to. Hope this helps!

No, NPCAI does not have a dispatch. You'll need Grammar Police or nexus dispatch.

I know this post is a few days old but Double Hook I just wanted to say thank you and Echo the sentiments that other people have also stated so that way it doesn't sound repetitive. I just have to admit LSPDFR it's just a completely different world ever since your mod was created it really changes the dynamic and realm of imagination. The possibilities are literally endless instead of playing the game I enjoy talking with NPCs more often now. I really don't even go for the call-outs anymore I spent over 30 minutes just talking with two NPC characters. I just rejoined your patreon today July 10th. I was curious is npcai going to be updated monthly or every other month? Also are there any plans to allow free updates for paying members in the future for the lifetime of our membership?
Hey love the mod haven’t played GTA 5 in a while, but this brought me back lol but I’m having a little bit of a problem with the partner part I installed everything correctly! Now i’ll give my partner a command he’ll respond, but he won’t react. He’ll just stand there with his arms crossed. Is there a fix to this?
Thanks so much for the kind works. Partners, unlike civilians are not able to be controlled at this time. For future releases, PR partners will be controllable, but STP partners will not due to the lack of API availability. Hope this helps. Which mod do you play with, PR or STP?

Overall, I'm very disappointed, and not because I completely don't understand what you're saying in the video, because I don't understand English at all, but because I wasted 10 euros buying this thing, and it doesn't work at all. Honestly, I've been sitting on my ass for 8 hours today, trying to do everything 1:1 as in the video, and yet, I still don't know where you got the four downloaded files, since I only have 2 after downloading them. I don't know how you got the NPCIXML folder, since I don't have it. And generally, I supposedly have the GEMINI key copied correctly, but it doesn't work, because my character as a police officer moves his lips in the game, but the NPCs look at me like they're idiots and don't say anything, they're quiet and silent, even though the NPCI 3.1 mod loaded, because the game showed that. Downloaded Windows language settings and my microphone settings didn't help either. I wasted 8 hours of my life trying to enjoy this thing at all costs, but apparently it's impossible. I'm really disappointed, and I'm forced to write this to you via Google Translate. I would be honored if you could explain it more simply and help me at the same time, because I'm really devastated by this whole situation. Hello Double Hook, First, I’d like to thank you for all the work you’ve put into NPCAI. It’s become an essential part of many LSPDFR setups, and I truly appreciate the effort you’ve invested in developing and maintaining it. I wanted to report what appears to be a compatibility issue with NPCAI version 3.1 when it’s used alongside Grammar Police. One of the most noticeable problems occurs when I instruct an AI officer to call for an ambulance. The officer correctly acknowledges the request and verbally calls for EMS. However, the game dispatches Animal Control instead of an ambulance. If I issue the same command again, the officer responds that the ambulance is already en route, even though Animal Control was dispatched and no ambulance was ever sent. Based on my testing, it appears that the latest version of NPCAI is not fully aligned with Grammar Police, resulting in dispatch requests being routed incorrectly. This issue affects immersion and functionality during patrols, especially when responding to scenes that require medical assistance. I wanted to bring this to your attention in case it helps identify a compatibility issue between NPCAI 3.1 and Grammar Police. AFTER HOURS OF PLAYING AND TESTING. I FOUND OUT THAT YOU ARE STILL A GOD!
STP version seems to be super broken. The partner has a mind of his own and can't seem to handle simple instructions. He calls for prisoner transport on his own without my prompting so, in the middle of an investigation, which messes up the whole roleplay scene I'm doing. Also, I asked him to call for EMS 5 times and he just kept calling a tow or animal control, and then after that just refused to perform the action at all. I might have to swap to PR if that works any better, cos playing with a partner on STP is virtually unplayable.

Thanks for the update!. With the new update though, the npcs keep on walking now when I talk to them. I can't get them to stop walking away. I used PR to make them completely stop, then when I engage in conversation they start walking away again. Weird

Do I delete the NPCIXML folder from 3.0?
In the install video, he says to delete the NPCIXML folder. (If you have custom xml's you made copy them over and put them into the new NPCI folder)
