SNAPTIC Pre-alpha Playtest Released!
Hello everyone!!
So excited to say that our first Patreon exclusive Playtest is now live! All Patreon members now have access to pre-alpha 0.21!
You now also have access to 3 secret channels in the SNAPTIC Discord server, where you can give your feedback on the test builds! (make sure your Patreon account is linked to your Discord account!)
You're all official alpha testers now!
This playtest serves primarily as a movement demo. Our main focus with these areas that we've set up for this build are the unique movement abilities that Anon has, such as his ability to turn into a marble. You may find yourself in some magnetic situations! When in doubt, press Q.
At the moment we're focused on nailing down the gameplay mechanics, so we've set up courses with placeholder objects. There may be secrets lying around..
Look at this individual, what on earth is he up to
There's also a track playing in this build that has never been heard before..
The Build
The pre-alpha build is attached at the bottom of this post! Have lots of fun!
We'll be doing as many of these playtests during development as we can to ensure that we stomp any bugs or game issues that might pop up as we design this experience!
So join the discussion in the Tester channels!

This is so cool. I haven't felt this type of wonder in a game in too long. There were like 12 different techs I stumbled upon naturally. You guys are awesome at this and I believe in you.
oh gawd the impact frames
What is the 'mouse capture' functionality? All I see is that it lets you know that the red boxes will kill you from afar, but I saw that there is some window drag ability in other posts. How do I do that, or is it not implemented (or hidden)?
YOU CAN DO THE X TRIANGLE R2!!!!!!! I used a switch controller so for me its A + Y + R2
This is amazing i've only played it for a little bit and it feels good the only complaint i have is for the impact frames when you are the magnet. I do wish there was a sound effect like a "BANG" to really make the impact frame feel "impactful" especially when you hit the wall going mach 5.
The movement feels nice, although the marble gamemode feels too slippery
Okay, I finally had enough to time to play it! Here are my first impressions. 1) just like in the trailer that announced the game looked, the movement is very satisfying. The "magnet mode" feel very real in how they interact with the magnets. 2) pressing Q is difficult while also using WASD. 3) i kept trying to use tab to run while in "User Mode" lol. maybe that should be the toggle for marble? 4) the impact frame for going very fast as a marble and hitting something? glorious. I love it. 5) while i really enjoy the grainy "screen" over everything for that retro feel, the text can be a little hard to read. Once close up it's usually fine, so maybe that is intentional. It was a little annoying though. 6) LOVE the music and the sound effects. (Also, I can't figure out out to connect my patreon to my discord; does anyone know how to do that???)
I CAN FINALLY X+TRIANGLE+R2
ok so, cant sync my discord and my patreon rn, anywho, i think a cool optional toggle (or debug toggle) would be the option to visualize magnet fields. being able to see their boundaries (even outside of story/a normal run) would be kinda nice icl.
and this applies to the demo i mean.
very good alpha!!!! The only complaint I have is that on magnet walls it can be a bit weird to move around when the camera dictates the WASD directions. Also would be nice to be able to use Mouse2 or another button to swap to MARBLE mode.
that's what i was thinking too; i kept reorienting my camera view and then felt like the magnet moved the opposite way I wanted.
this is cool, the box is cool
wow this is fantastic, it feels great already. I think it would be really nice if you could use the mouse wheel to scroll the camera closer in, but not further out (like if the camera's default position was the max you can zoom out already). that way my blind ahh could get a better look at things while still keeping the camera within the intended range of vision for level design. the exception to this would be certain spots like the pachinko ball area, where a fixed camera view would override your standard view.
heck yeah i play soon my snap friend
I don't know how valuable my perspective will be since I'm generally awful at games, but I'll take a crack at it when I get the chance :)
Definitely giving this a try when I have a moment. :)
OH: MY: GOD?
would be super nice to have some breakable objects to aim my particle accelerator (marble) at when there's impact frames, it would click well with the "POW!" of ramming into a wall, also concurring with the awkwardness of pressing Q to change modes, at least to do trickier movement tech
plenty of fun so far though, and the soundtrack fits perfectly, I've definitely gotten plenty out of my $5 😎
Can confirm this is working on Linux with Proton! Controller works as well!
So I played for a few moments, so far pretty good! Need a quick reorienting button so you can always face the direction your character is facing or the direction you're currently moving in, but overall it's very solid!
Hi lead programmer here, you can press middle click or press in the right joystick to do this!
I do find pressing Q to be difficult with movement keys, I would love if it were bound to shift or right mouse
I agree, I can't move left while swapping
I was waiting for this moment, the reason I subscribed. Thank you, can't wait to get back from work
ITS SO GOOOD YEEEESSSSSS
AHHHHHHH SO EXCITED
