The year ahead in 2019, a bit about me, and 20k subs!!

Right, so..

I always try keep personal stuff out of what I'm doing but now that there people actively supporting me I want to give a heads up as to why you won't see me around during early Feb each year (spoiler alert:  I'm back now).  And also let you all know what I've got line up for this year.

The grim shit first.  

4 years ago I watched my only sibling pass away in front of me and during the first 2 weeks of Feb in each year I'm usually out for the count and spending time with the family that I have left.  I try to get as much planned in early Jan as I can to set us up for mid Feb onwards and the year ahead.  Now I'm back from abroad we good to go.

SO.  WHAT'S GOOD FOR 2019?

We hit 20k subs on YouTube!!  Wholly shet.  Thank you all for the support through Patreon, sharing vids, commenting on vids and honestly, being a big part of my inspiration to move the channel forward and find creative ways to share VR with the world.

WHAT ELSE?

1.  The Grid VR will move to a fortnightly show

With the exception of big events like CES, Facebook Dev Conference, GDC, Mobile Expo etc..  

This is so I can make The Grid VR more informative and free up time to do the other vids I have just sitting in folders as scripts..  A couple hundred actually!!  Plus it'll allow me to do the other things I'll list below.

A lot of people miss out on a lot of info I can share as The Grid VR grinds up almost 100% of my time as a weekly show.  I can make slightly longer episodes if necessary (up to 18 minutes) that contain more content and keep the pace if it's a super busy week, all the while freeing up time at the same time.

2.  Gaming with Patrons

I've been looking forward to this the most since I started this page.  Plus getting Big Screen sessions going where we can hang out.   There are so many keen gamers here and every week that goes by I have to delay multiplayer sessions due to time restrictions and it's bullshit.  Game.  On.

3.  Twitch Streaming

Late last year I started running Twitch test streams.  I'll continue that early this year and progress to more regular streams.  The trick is recording high quality clips I can use for videos like The Grid VR while streaming at the same time.  

Ideally I want to Stream, then follow up with proper review videos of those games using that footage so everyone here, and the people watching on YouTube can get info and my thoughts on titles to help them decide if the game is for them or not.

Or just kick back and watch me hack my way through the virtual gaming world.

4.  Patreon only gameplays

You would have seen a handful of these pop up last year.  I love making them.  They're quick to edit, high quality, and easy to watch.  Moar plez

5.  Staying on top of Patreon rewards

I've tried to keep on top of these first and foremost but the time it takes, The Grid VR, and unforeseen dramas with printers etc has me falling well behind.  I'm still finalising rewards from last year and it's out of hand at this point imo.

I love creating shit and giving it to others.  For everyone here I want you to get the rewards + more, and for me it's a priority.

6.  More people in the Discord chat 

A public Discord channel so more people can chat and arrange gaming sessions with each other.  I'll keep the Patron only channel and will look to current Patrons for guidance as to what you all would want setup there. 

I'll be more available and share stuff I find as I go so people don't have to wait for The Grid VR if they don't want to.

7.  Discord voice chat

I'll enable a voice chat channel and jump in from time to time starting this week.  More on that in a sec.

8.  Insta stories + Patreon media videos

Videos of what I'm up to in the studio and random tech related posts as I go.

Less exciting shit

Spending the next 2 days organising my messy af PC from the last 12 months of video file accumulation.  I don't know why I actually love doing this but I do.  Yay. 

MULTIPLAYER SESSION this weekend!  

Sunday (AU/NZ) a.k.a Saturday (US/UK).  Contractors VR will be the game and all who have it are invited.  I'll also Stream this one on Twitch!  Times are as follows:

Melbourne, Australia - 10am Sunday 17th Feb

New Zealand - Noon Sunday 17th Feb

London - 11pm Saturday 16th

Los Angeles/Vancouver - 3pm  Saturday 16th

New York - 6pm  Saturday 16th

I'll send out a group message shortly with my Steam name and how to add me.

Discord Discord Discord - Voice chat

I'll be hanging around the chat from tomorrow and through the weekend making The Grid VR and I'll enable a voice chat channel here and there.  Not sure times just yet but will post in the Discord chat as I go live so anyone can switch on their mics and come chat.
