Piglets in Peril - Episode 39
Good evening everybody
This week we share with you the story, touched upon in last week's episode, of our sick piglets and our efforts to save their lives.
Losing a couple of piglets whilst in our care was a hard learning experience for us both but we felt like intervention and removal from their mother was the only way we were going to save them. We were thankful that we could see a vet experienced in treating pigs to obtain antibiotics to try to treat their condition which we correctly diagnosed as Greasy Pig Disease (Exudative Epidermitis).
We remain optimistic about the survivors and we hope you enjoy the show. Piglets really are quite charming even when on death's door.
With gratitude
Troy and Pascale

Thanks for the journey. Sick critters are a different type of lee shore.
If you had of told Troy he'd be nursing a sick piglet with a bottle 5 years ago he wouldn't of believed you that's for sure!
馃憤馃徏馃憤馃徏Well done you both!馃憤馃徏馃憤馃徏 Being an animal step-parent is so hard, especially when your charges are sick! Managing to get those 2 back to full health and strength is a real achievement! Without your hard work, none of them would have. Take good care! Already looking forward to your next one!馃槉
Giving micro-pigs injections and bottle feeds was not on our 2023 Bingo card! Thank you for coming along for the ride.
Thanks for another lovely episode. I loved watching Pascale on her walk with the animals. Even the cat wanted to go on a walk with her! Watching the two of you care for the sick piglets, it is easy to see that you will be wonderful parents. As always, thanks for sharing your fascinating life with us.
Thank you, Janet. A good parent is something to really aspire to. Luckily we have a few good role models. Regarding that cat. He loves to come for walks, night or day and gives us both a laugh. The other day, he followed along to our bird loving neighbours house. Despite their misgivings about cats, he ingratiated himself there by hunting around in nooks and cranny for mice- ignoring the various birds. We do love our furry entourage wherever we wander.
Well done!
Next year, we intend to work more on the prevention and less on the cure!
You may have had a hard time raising those piglets. But they are extremely fortunate to have the two of you caring for them. I don't think they could be in better hands.
Thanks for the kind words Chris. We hope that next time we can avoid all of that drama. The loss of baby animals is quite a unique sting.
That was amazing, the level of care you two have had to learn and implement to have gotten where you are is truly praise worthy! No one will know how much work it is to bath and nurse feed a litter until they have had to do so. My kittens had to be blown dried after bathing all the poo off they would acquire overnight, 5 little fur balls. The memory of those many mornings playing "Mommy Cat" before getting to the job site as a carpenter left an indelible memory this episode .... eh... rekindled, to savor with my just brewed coffee. Thanks?? 鉁嶏笍))) Lol
Haha, you big softy! That is definitely a labour of love as cat poo is not a nice experience. Did your workmates wonder about all the tiny scratches covering your hands?
