Felling Big Trees with a Small Chainsaw - Episode 9
Good morning wonderful patrons
This week we explain in a little more depth why we wanted to remove the Eucalyptus globulus trees from our home paddock. Troy talks you through each of the cuts to fell a tree with a trunk much larger than his chainsaw bar. We also celebrate my birthday and the start of winter with an epic burn and get some much needed help from our neighbour and his tractor.
I was really motivated to get this one out to you all sooner but we've had some new arrivals on the farm that gobbled up a bit of my time! I will share with you the news in a patron only post very soon.
With gratitude for your incredible support
Pascale
PS - Did anyone else get distracted by the steam coming off the log while Troy was talking? It's starting to get pretty chilly here in the mornings even the camera lens was fogged up for a few takes!

A belated happy birthday to Pascal! I see why Troy had no trouble cutting things for the boat!
Thanks as always for a great episode. I always learn useful things from you two. It takes a special soul to do your work, explain it in a meaningful way to others and maintain humility. I look forward to hearing more in future episodes about the tools and tricks of your trades!
First off, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY PASCALE" we are so lucky to know you..I mean that. Your charm, warmth, good nature are a testament, and your giggles well, knock me over with a feather. Troy on the other hand just gets it done, but better then that__he can explain how and why better then anyone I've ever known. As a pair making YT videos is magnifique. ✍️)))
Thank you for the kind words Robert. Like all of you, I am constantly in awe of Troy's abilities. He is really making everything possible on this little block of land for us. We also feel incredibly lucky to have you and the Patreon community supporting us every step of the way. I really hope we can meet you all in person one day and put a smiling face to all your names.
Love the new adventure. I get eough sailing!
Thanks Larry and Jean. We look forward to sharing the next one with you soon.
Lots of work condensed into this video! Growing up in the US Northwest, and heating our house primarily with wood, I know how much you edited out! Good overview of dropping trees! You have probably saved some folks from nasty surprises! Also interesting to see how boat skills transfer over to your new endeavors!😊 Take good care!! Happy birthday Pascale!!
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes it means a lot. Troy always has so much good information to impart it can be hard to make a good edit and keep everyone interested. I'm really glad you appreciate the effort put in.
Happy Birthday Pascale! Many Happy Returns :-)
Thanks so much Tim we hope you and your lovely lady are doing well.
Belated birthday wishes Pascale 🎂🍾 Enjoyed this, looking back on my tree felling days as a 17yr old outa Harvey i'm surprised i survived 😅 Question. Do you have to get a permit to 🔥 or because it's winter & no fire ban, your good to burn what you want. I didn't notice there was another big bonfire in the distance too. Cheers guys
No permit required in winter as far as we were aware. One of our neighbours who attended is a fireman and approved of the 2 burn sites.
Happy belated birthday Pascale :)
Cheers Jon. It was good one this year!
Thank you, Troy! Very interesting explanation on tree felling...😉 Belated birthday wishes, Pascale! 🥳😘 May you have many more!
