Hull Speed Exceeded ✔️ (I got scared!) - Episode 111
Join us this week as we go the fastest we have ever been on Mirrool!
What starts out as a windless morning departure turns into a very exciting (and sometimes nerve wracking for me) downwind sail through the afternoon, evening and night as we make our fastest passage yet 100 nautical miles to the entrance of the Clarence River on the northern end of the New South Wales coastline.
We hope you enjoyed the ride, it was impressive to edit, we really were flying! Apologies for the wind noise in this video, it's a little bit tricky to hide from the wind when it is right up your stern!
With gratitude to all of you who make these videos possible.

WoW! Pascale you were so very brave. I'd have been completely terrified!
Cheers Tim - we've never been that fast before, SCARY!
Wow! My Sarah identifies with the feels of this. Her nemesis was Dover Harbour entrance after a super-fast run, round Dungeness in a F6/7 tailwind. She found that gin helped. Awesome sailing, but a little on the edge too, right? Fabulous episode, and as ever you guys just nail the story-telling. Love your work. 👍🏼⛵️🎉💯
Yes it's definitely the most scared I have ever been sailing with Troy. Our boom sweeps so low I was scared that while steering I might accidentally gybe and sweep Troy off deck. Will have to remember to pack gin for next time :D
Gybing on the edge...surfing down waves..11+ knots; I would say that's kicking the tires on Mirrool and testing the sailors about as much as could be asked for! Great job, that was fun to be onboard for such a thrilling ride!!
Southern Ocean training cruise!
Wow! Just Wow! Pascale, you'd better be careful what you ask for! :-) You wanted wind and you got it! Thanks for a great video!
Mother nature always has a quick sense of humour!
That was a great average for your run to Iluka guys. Now I know what Pascale meant when she was describing it at the Newport get-together. Look forward to your vid of the Clarence. I haven’t been any further up river than Iluka, an oversight I hope to remedy in 2020.
Ah, well, we can definitely recommend a stop at McLean as they are lovely people in a charming town. They make visitors feel quite welcome.
Wow! You were really flying on this passage! Mirrool and crew both looked to be handling things beautifully!! Well done!! Thanks for taking us along!
Mirrool spread her wings!
As always I try to keep comments on YouTube, to get you more 'activity' on your channel.
:)
Wonderful video, folks. I love the musical backgrounds. And the sailing was very fun to watch. TY for sharing.
It was pretty exhilarating except for when we had to gybe! With northerly winds from now on, it will be a regular part of sailing. Thanks Joseph
