Cut Throats and Cockatoos - Episode 75
Refit is over baby! After 2 months of work we finally leave Townsville, destination unknown, but with the wind in our favour we decide to head to Nara Inlet at Hook Island in the beautiful Whitsundays. There we have a lovely time exploring and hanging out with a very demanding cockatoo. This episode also features: barracuda catch and release, Troy landing a bonito tuna, a tour of the Ngaro cultural site and Troy shaving off his beard with a cut throat razor for Movember. We hope you enjoy it, it was so nice to edit a video of us back out on the water again having adventures!
Much love Pascale

The last time I had a fully bare face was after my father passed away around 6 years ago. It was Halloween and we had our big fundraising party, so I went as HIM! I had his last White lab coat, and his big batch of badges that got him into the various hospitals he worked in and one of his stethoscopes. I found a short wig to hide my long hair and right before the party, I SHAVED! I don't now that I'll ever go full bare faced again ;-). Of course If was to meet a Pascy of my own and she asked... That might do it ;-)
When I was a little kid, my grandad shaved off his beard and I remember crying from the shock of it! I took it better as I got older though. I'm under orders that I can have a shaved beard or short hair but not both at once. That's what is in store for you should you meet your own Pascale. It's a very fair trade.
Love the wildlife, and that you are back out free-ranging :-). When do you get back in croc country? (I do have my little enthusiasms ;-). I need to get a picture of me and my best (croc) mate wearing one of my Free Range Sailing shirts! Oh yeah, just last night I went from a full beard to a goatee, funny I didn't get to watching this till this morning, eh? ;-) Tim
Technically, through winter we'll be at the southern croc range but it's highly unlikely we will see any. We're hoping to show you Manta Rays and Humpback Whales to make up for it:) Went the chop hey? Great minds....
:)
Love the straight edge beard cut. I have done this several times after passages that required me to stop shaving and carry on. Man, does it feel good to lop that stuff off!
Clean shaven and a crew cut was always my favourite but my sweetheart prefers I keep a bit of hair. My features are a bit severe otherwise apparently 😄
Love the fun you had with the bird!
We're real animal lovers but find a 30' yacht to be too tight for pets. It was a very welcome visit!
Delightful.
It's good to be back out and exploring, wildlife and all.
Great to see you sailing again! I've been interested in trying a straight razor before, and even more so after your encouragement in this one, and the other episode where it was featured. And I liked seeing your new cockatoo friend!
We definitely recommend a flat anchorage for the first few tries Scott. That parrot was a real highlight of our stay there- but I'm a bit of a bird nut.
It's mildly frustrating that I'm having an online conversation that this video is relevant to but it'll be a week before I can publish the link. If only you weren't so interesting! ;)
We can try to be more boring if thats any help to you.
Porn Star Dennis Lilly Mojo with attitude :)
HOWZAT!!
Love those birds. It means we're in the Whitsundays :-)
We had a visit from what we thought was the same one but behaved differently. I think there are team of those bandits working the marks of Nara Inlet.
How true, how true. He does benefit from the odd clean-up... (chuckle)...and no the white whiskers are safe. Just doing the math and I have had a beard for 47 years. Although no cockatoos in my house the two dogs perform a pretty good con job on me daily. En Evante
I have never used a "cut-throat" (obviously) yet truly loved the how-to aspect. Still not convinced to use one, or any razor for that matter. Happy to learn you are Free Range sailing again after the necessary stay to refit/fix/spruce up at Townsend. Such a bold cockatoo. Charming as well. All the very best in the ensuing adventures. From your land-lubber (still working on a small sailing pram) Tom
It would be a real shame to molest that beard you sport in any fashion Tom but I like to encourage mine to do a bit better occasionally. I think that cockie is a pretty accomplished grifter in these parts, all the more for the affection locals show for him.
