Refit in the Cockpit - Episode 73

In our second last refit episode we talk you through the new additions to our cockpit, whilst also preparing it for painting.  Troy shows you some tips and tricks for applying KiwiGrip deck paint (he follows the instructions).

A break of more than 2 months of consistent south easterlies means we've headed out to the reef and then we'll be making our way down to Fraser Island over the coming week. We'll do our best to respond to you once we're back in range!

A massive thank you to you all for your contributions towards the production of these videos.

Pascale

You hate painting Troy? I KNEW we were brothers! ;-) I'm sad to be getting to the end of the refit series but happy that you two are back out adventuring, where you belong. Happy (Sea) Trails!

Yep, given a choice, I would much prefer wrangling a grumpy pelican.. Those refit episodes were pretty popular. I think there's always a lot of appeal watching how others tackle problems and we got some good feedback by some viewers who are more versed in some of those jobs than we are.

whatever floats your boat! (god, I bet that comment has been used 10 million times in a sailing context)

We find the kiwi grip pretty forgiving in bathers or boardshorts but we sit on a towel if we're au naturale.

The Kiwi grip looks good - however, what's it like on the posterior? Plenty of non-skid for the size 9's but maybe a wee bit too much non skid for the backside? cheers Andrew and Deb

Another great video! I too stink at painting because I don't like it! Having decided to redo the non slip on Drakkar, I will be using the"frosted kiwi" application with the trowel! Love kiwi grip, and it comes in lots of colors!

Oh does it? When we bought ours it was white or grey, which is ok because I wanted the grey. I wonder if that's a new development or the company we bought the paint from only maintained limited stock.

Someone has to like the jokes! Cruising full time together is a fast track to mutual respect. We trust each other with our lives quite often.
