DIY Engine Hoist and Head Removal - Episode 66
Hello patrons!
Here it is the first video of our refit series which we are releasing to you a week before it will be published on YouTube. In this episode, we get started on our two main priorities for Mirrool's refit namely, preparing the hull for a new coat of anti-foul and a minor engine overhaul. As with all refits the unexpected is commonplace and we have to adapt to changing circumstances.
Since we left Plum Tree in Stanage Bay area about 3 weeks ago we have been out of internet range to get any videos uploaded to you. We've had a great few weeks of adventures capturing lots of great footage and I can't wait to put these episodes together for you. We visited Broadsound, the Percy Isles and Island Head Creek before arriving at the Keppel Islands a couple of days ago. The spearfishing was most excellent at the Percy Isles, here is a picture of me with our catch, a beautiful red emperor and bar cheek coral trout.
Cheers Pascale

Thanks very much Orville. Refit time is when it pays off to be a small boat owner! This was the first one I can remember being quite fun though due to Pascy being right there the whole time.
Oh glorious boat maintenance on the hard. A stable and dry platform to perform what you couldn't do at sea when you were doing all the other maintenance you have to do. LOL I love your little putt putt, super simple to work on and move around. Good to have you back in our lives, you were missed.
So awesome learned a lot and got to see my amazing friends again Troy you amaze me with your knowledge in so many areas love hugs and special prayers to you 2 and the adventures ahead
Thanks Dave, it really is our pleasure to bring these episodes to such a appreciative group of people like your good self. We have some interesting future plans as well. Take care.
Fantastic episode!! I missed you, but it's great to read that you have been having a wonderful time away from the internet, and looking forward to see all about it! I love Troy's teaching style and learn so much from these maintenance episodes! The fish looked wonderful, and yummy too!
Thanks Scott, it's been a time of ups and downs with cyclones circling about and unable to make up their minds where to go. Also, This summer had settled into a small winter pattern with no north winds just the SE trades so we are still tacking around! Some fun vids coming up.
You have to love an engine you can lift out with a halyard and your boom
10 kg per kilowatt!
I've sure missed you guys!. I was a LOT closer to OZ for xmas, I spent it on Maui! I was SUPPOSED to do a bunch of diving while there but wasn't able to even snorkel for the first couple of weeks :-( I had a pretty well banged up leg and had to get wheeled through 4 airports! No worries though, the leg is still improving and my dive gear is updated and so is my PADI certification. I did get 4 or 5 good snorkels in and they made me think of you two. Lots of Honu (Turtles) around Maui and I saw some spectacular whale breaching too. Sometimes you can even hear them singing :-)
Sorry to hear mate but I bet the whale antics was some compensation. Listening to them singing was an unususl side benefit when I still worked underwater full time.
