SUPRISE!!! - Episode 55
Hi Patrons
In this episode, it's our last week in Cairns and we're keeping pretty busy cramming in boat jobs and sight seeing before departing for our next big adventure.
Among other things, we take on a couple of sewing projects, visit the famous Cock'n'Bull pub, meet our mate Laurie at the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, explore the Cairns Botanic Gardens and visit Big Asia Supermarket to get some supplies.
In the midst of all of this a birthday suprise is brewing for a very unsuspecting Troy!
There's a lot going on to keep you entertained, as well as, our usual tidbits of knowledge that you may find helpful. A big thank you to our longstanding Broad Run patron, Thomas, for his contribution towards this episode.
Cheers
Pascale
PS - I previously uploaded this video in the wrong format and wasn't able to edit it so had to delete and repost. Sorry for the confusion. Moz asked who we use online to get our bulk whole foods. We use 2Brothers Foods in Western Australia. The link is here: https://2brothersfoods.com/.
Moz also asked what mill we use. It's called a WonderMill junior.
If you'd like to read the conversation I had with Moz in the previous post a screenshot is attached below.

Happy birthday Troy! Once again, another fine vid! They are always the best entertainments education in my week. Really enjoyed the food bits, as I try to eat as close to the source as possible. I use a lot of dried fruits when I am out adventuring, nothing like soaked fruit medley on granola! Looking forward to some more out and about stuff and I know its coming! I will try and make the live chat Sunday. Until then, cheers, Chris
Thanks for the birthday wishes. What are you up to when you're out adventuring? I've got some friends that just finished hiking the CDT and food played a big part of their adventure. Finding the right balance of high calorie and tasty but not too heavy in the pack.
Congratulations on another solar circumnavigation Troy! Grommets! That puts us int my wheelhouse. ;-). We use grommets on all of our "manned" birds of prey. I have a great bit of kit, instead of the usual grommet setting anvil and striker we have a whole set of Vise-Grip style pliers with the proper bits attached. The lack of pounding makes it less stressful for the birds. I do use your end grain trick when punching my larger holes. Fun Oz fact, kangaroo leather is light years better for this purpose than any other. So, thanks Oz! Tim
That all sounds intriguing and a bit beyond our experience. Are you using the grommets like rivets to hold tethers around the ankles of raptors?
Don't tell me you are pregnant! Wow, that would be the coolest announcement of all! But whatever it is, I cannot wait for the next edition. Cheers! Capt. Rick
No it's not that exciting! Something has finally arrived that everyone's been waiting for.
Thanks Pascale! And (belated) merry birthday Troy!
ok, I got the last Wondermill Biodistributers had. I suspect the "out of stock/discontinued" messages tell us something important about the product... hopefully that they last for ever so they only sell one per customer :) Are there any spare parts I should be trying to buy so I can service it in the future?
Happy Birthday Troy! many more!
