Free Diving the Edge - Episode 37
It's been a while since we've uploaded a video but this is the first in a series of 3 videos where we head out to where very few people ever go.
As well as the usual Free Range Sailing content, this has some of the best coral reef we've ever visited.
Really excited to post this one up for you all, the footage was filmed in February 2018 between Thursday Island and Ashmore Reef in the Coral Sea.
So here's Part 1 for you to enjoy!
Troy and Pascale

Thank you such a wonderful video I know i will never do anything like that even when i was your ages i am deathly scared of getting in water and never learned to swim as i was raised on a farm and had no river or lakes to learn in. was in a deep creek one time and a drunk nearly drowned me and that was end of me and getting in the water other then to bathe so with going along with you 2 and enjoying it so much will be the best way for me and i learn so much about the ocean and how you do the life you do so impressed with you both in all you do. sending love hugs and special prayers to you both and your awesome boat
Wow. We both grew up around water, I think I learnt to swim before I started walking! We are often afraid, with good reason, of the unknown and unfamiliar. So glad we can show you the underwater world through our videos. Sending hugs your way too Pascale
Thanks Guys, amazingly done! Loved the underwater aquarium still camera with action. Fantastic music and great cinematography. You set the bar high and clear it easily. We are so proud of you. Just back from our little seattrial trip on our new boat. No wind but still had a great time!
Thanks Emile. We hope the sea trial all went well with no big surprises.
That song at 8:45 with the underwater clips was mesmerizing. I could watch that on repeat for days. Swimming through a school of trevally is now on my bucket list.
It's very surreal.
I'm not sure of the reasons Kai. It's an interesting subject and if I ever get hold of a researcher I'll try get them on camera for you guys.
Wow. What does it have to do with damaged reef
With sicotera. Is it not only the larger fish that have build up of it. And it's OK to eat the smaller ones. Like under 8kg Mackarel for instance
Yep, spot on Kai. That mackerel I pinged was big enough but it was ok. Damaged reefs are more likely places to pick it up so that wasn't the case there.
Wow! Its great to see y'all. Growing up in South Florida, I can't even remember leaning how to snorkel. I've been free diving in many places (Atlantic, Caribbean, Yucatan, Hawaii and Aegean, so far ;-) ) but the GBR is still a dream. But one I need to pursue! The bird sure looked like a "Brown Booby" ("Sula leucogaster"). They are found all over, we even had a permanently impaired (flightless) specimen as part of our captive collection for years. It always made the school kids giggle when one would ask what the funny looking pelican was!
Yes it certainly was a Brown Booby. They've got such great personalities. They're our favourite bird out here. Just not when they decide to roost on the spreaders and poop everywhere!
Now that was worth the wait, to be able to just fall off the side of the boat and experience this must be truly amazing. Thanks once again for enabling so many of us to follow your adventures, and live our dreams through you two.
Thanks Andy. It's a dream and we're so grateful we can do it. Makes all the reanchoring at midnight, windward sailing and rolling around worth it. We love being able to share it with you all.

Wow that underwater camera was worth every penny! I loved the getting the extra fish info and that music was pure joy...Well done.
Really enjoyed that. Thank you.
