Dev Update 10

Hey everyone! It’s been a little under a month since our last development update, and we’ve made a ton of progress in that time. Here’s a look at what we’ve been hard at work on lately!

1. HookUp App Update Screenshots

The HookUp App Update is almost complete, so we wanted to share a few in game screenshots with you. This new gameplay system has been a lot of work and over the past couple months, and we're super excited with how it's all coming together.

2. Marcus and Rocio Facial Expressions

One of our final steps when adding new characters is creating a full set of facial expressions for them. These expressions go a long way in helping bring our scenes to life! Here’s a look at the expressions of new characters featured in the HookUp App Update, Marcus and Rocio!

3. HookUp App Technical Breakdown - from Kicks!

Below are a few words from our developer Kicks, who has been instrumental in building the HookUp App! A lot of the work in this update is happening behind the scenes, so we wanted him to share a bit about what went into building an entire working app in the game.

Yo, just here to write a little about this update! On the surface the main hookup app might seem simple however, our goal was to set up the code in a way that’s fully dynamic and future proof. Instead of hard coding everything per character, the entire system is driven by dictionaries, which lets us write functions that work universally across the app.

The total code for this update, excluding dialogue, was condensed down to 1600 lines. If this had been built in a more traditional, static way, it could have easily been closer to 10000 lines and require more with each update.

Now due to this, adding more characters to the app in the future will take a fraction of the time it would have otherwise. The foundation is already there, so expanding the matchable roster is fast and scalable allowing us to work on other things whilst expanding the matchable roster regularly.

4. New Ella Wallpaper

We recently dropped a new exclusive wallpaper featuring our MC, Ella! This wallpaper is available now for our Junior and Senior tier supporters. We hope you enjoy it! <33

5. Upcoming Wallpaper Poll

It’s almost time for another wallpaper poll! Soon, you’ll be able to vote on who you’d like to see featured in our next exclusive wallpaper. Keep an eye out for this post coming soon!

6. Jun Update Art Progress

As we wrap up animations for the HookUp App Update, we’ve also started on artwork for the Jun Update. Here’s a lil sneak peek of... a possible new location? More details will be shared as things continue to come together ;D

7. Hookup App Update Playtesting

As mentioned before, we’re getting very close to finishing the HookUp App Update, which means it’s almost time for playtesting! Since this update is smaller in scope, we won’t be bringing on any new playtesters this time. Existing playtesters will still have an opportunity to test, so if that’s you, keep an eye out for a message in the playtesters channel on Discord! Thanks for understanding!
