Pragya The Lonely Intellectual

Beginning

Pragya used to be a happy girl, she used to go to school daily and had a few friends she would love to hang out with but after 8th grade she got super into programming, she would beg her mom to get her a pc and she’d rush home to learn the intricacies of the programming language c++! By the age of 15 she already had an internship with Google that put her family in the nicer parts of India, which then allowed her father to get a more lucrative career! But the closer she got to graduating high school the more depressed she got for all of her intellect and drive to see the positives in this world were slowly eaten away at! Instead of feeling Joy for working with google she felt disdain because day in and day out all they would let her do is fetch coffees and pick up trash so one day she quit! Her parents were upset but ultimately understood why she quit…as her last year of high school was up she decided to take up freelance work after all her parents were stable now and she wanted to be self sufficient, at first it was slow but her “exaggerated” claims of working for google ultimately helped her get a few high paying freelance jobs for a few companies that actually put her programming skills to the test!

Day of Graduation and the Aftermath of it

The day she graduated high school was supposed to be a wondrous occasion but by that time her joy for humanity had faded due to her constant involvement in online spaces such as forums and social medias! She realized that her country within this modern world was not seen in the most highest regards! Time and time again she had to defend herself from online trolls, understand the political state of her country and also understand the differences between sarcasm, jokes, and hate! After all, all of her intellect wasn't given without a price because after graduation her parents got her checked up to find out she had autism specifically Aspergers(or asd for a broader term) her parents saw this as a gift but to her she saw it as a curse for all of her online debates and arguments left her drained mentally and even sometimes unable to take up her freelance work! Although traveling this harsh online landscape made her a significant history and political buff in the end she realized that in the online world no matter how smart you are in the end idiots will always win, not cause they’re talented or strategically gifted but merely because in the online world waving a golden spoon around and talking nonsense makes more people feel safe than showing them the truth and she had to learn that the hard way!

Officially out of high school

Pragya graduated high school one year earlier than the other kids, at the age of 17 for she was academically gifted not just in stem but also politics and history, she was always at the top of her class…no not just at the top she was the prime example of what teacher expected every student to be but when you’re at the top you start to realize just how lonely you are, gone were the days of her enjoying lunch with her friends or having fun goofy conversations. She could see how the other students looked at her, it wasn’t anger, it wasn’t disgust, it wasn’t even fear…it was alienation the feeling of being left out.

As she was free from high school she inevitably got deeper and deeper into online spaces and her work. She stopped leaving her room, stopped eating healthy and stopped talking to her parents! But she was making money 200 a month, 300 the next, 1000 the next 4k a few months after! Her parents were astonished yet scared of what she has become that bright cheerful daughter of their was jaded and empty inside and they could tell. They tried to get her out of her room to eat but she insisted she was fine…and then one day she moved from home and got a place of her own!

18 and Alone

No longer grounded to reality by her parents Pragya was now able to get deeper into her online spaces with no distractions, no one to snap her back to reality, no one to walk to when she felt like she was ready to break! She was truly alone within this space, for she has trapped herself in her own mental prison, she could have stopped and gone out but she didn’t after all why go outside when all of the money you make and the food services that come right to your door give you all that you need to survive. At times Pragya would cry herself to sleep not cause she was sad but because she felt alone! For intellect can give you power and knowledge but that is useless if you have no one to share it with. Out in the real world she felt alienated and online she felt alienated! On one end they see her as too smart to even associate with yet on the other hand she’s too smart and oblivious to realize most people in online spaces are too ignorant or stupid to actually read or understand what she has to type or say online! For the sad truth is that no matter how intellectually gifted one is, human nature isn't something an intellectual individual can predict nor understand if they view it through the lens of someone who only sees things as right or wrong

She also tried e-daring and it has always ended horribly because she realized most people online are shallow in their shows of affection and dont truly understand what it means to love someone.
