October 30th - Cookalong watchalong: Coraline
STARTING AT 8PM EST cytube will be open for the chatting and ambiance but it'll play on another tab because I don't have anything to play IN cytube ;;
We will be watching Coraline together~ Have you seen this movie? It's one of my favorites!!! I will update this later with an exact time, I want to give time to prepare the food before we watch it together! You can def prepare the sweets before and slow cook the chicken if you make it ^^ (I also recommend making something you want to eat as leftovers or doing really small portions because last year I had so much fucking food I had to toss most of it)
We will be making foods from the movie, I'll give some recipes and ideas for what I will be doing but there is no need to make anything or do more than you need to. Please only cook or do what you are capable of as far as time, money and skill goes.
Easy stuff - you can buy cheese, crackers, popcorn, saltwater taffy and cotton candy! These are all things relevant to the movie and something you will not have to cook but you can still enjoy "eating" out of the movie :D
What I will be cooking / having:
Snacks - I'm putting together a small plate of saltwater taffy, cotton candy, cheese cubes and crackers! I was thinking of doing a mini Coraline face (like the maze) pizza dip but I'm not sure! If you want to do a pizza dip it's super easy, I use this recipe: https://tipbuzz.com/halloween-pizza-dip/ and you can instead add toppings that would make Coraline's face! I am also making "Cocoa beetles from Zanzibar" and thinking of doing chocolate covered pumpkin seeds/almonds, chocolate covered strawberries or doing a beetle mold and putting some marshmallow fluff inside! Basically, you get melting chocolate and follow the directions to cover whatever it may be and make it look similar to a beetle. I'm also thinking of doing button cookies which are super easy! You can make sugar cookie dough or buy some and use some food dye (pls use gloves) and make little button shapes. Here's a little guide https://www.smartschoolhouse.com/easy-recipe/button-cookies
Dinner stuff - Cornish hen confit based on this https://toriavey.com/marinated-cornish-game-hens/ and I'm making dinner rolls https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/soft-dinner-rolls you can also just buy some frozen ones and they're the same but I'm making extra to freeze for later! I'm also just buying some mashed potatoes, gravy mix, corn and frozen broccoli for a big dinner like Coraline's dinner scene! After this, I am making a mini "Welcome Home" cake like the movie, recipe you can use but I'm doing my own with stuff I have around lol https://www.harvardsweetboutique.com/products/coraline-welcome-home-cake !
Here are some other ideas and things that sound fun https://archersfood.com/coraline-inspired-rolls/ a list of some https://thestarvingchefblog.com/coraline-food-ideas-the-ultimate-guide-to-a-movie-themed-other-board-feast yum https://www.feastofstarlight.com/coraline-mango-milkshake/ and if you want to do more things similar to the movie pickled beets are worth trying!

I LOVE EVERY LAIKA FILM WITH MY HEART
With the amount of effort you put into this I need to do something now
I saw Coraline when it first came out, and maybe a few times since then but that was so long ago I don't remember many of the scenes. I'm excited to watch it with you! You really went all out planning out the recipes so I'm going to give it my all to make them! Thank you for setting all this up, I really love doing theses cookalong/watchalongs
Woah you put alot of thought into all this! Thank you for all the recipes, your snack platter idea seems cute! I have seen Coraline, but I like goin back to it and this time it'll be together so it's a whole new experience π€π
I've actually never seen it before so it'll be my first time! I'll have to decide which of these I want to try making because they all sound awesome! You really put a lot of effort into coming up with this spread! I can't wait!!
I've not seen Coraline in years, looking forward to it!π
Thanks for putting all this together! <3 I've never seen Coraline, so I'm excited to be able to watch it with you for my first time and eat some yummy food too. Those dishes all sound really tasty, it's hard to choose what to make. Last year I ended up taking the leftovers to my mum and dads for them to try, so I'll probably do the same this year. They really liked it.
Holy! This is great for ideas!! While reading I was thinking exactly what to make according to what I can get. Thank you for going through the effort of putting these recipes together. I can't wait for this big friday with you

I saw Coraline in the theater as a kid but I remember not liking it. Claymation used to freak me out when I was little. I'm sure I'll enjoy it now though, looking forward to it. I'll see about making some of the things you listed, the pizza dip sounds good and I'm sure I'll be able to get some of the other things. Thank you for taking the time to come up with all this. <3

I've only ever watched Coraline as kind of a background movie or a few parts here and there, never actually sat down to watch the whole thing. I'm excited to watch it with you and make food. I'm really looking forward to it!
Ive never seen it before so I'm excited to watch it with you. I'll have to think about and prep what I want to make for it, I moved a couple months ago and my cooking utensils and space are kinda lacking. I'll make something for sure, it sounds like itll be a fun day.
OOH very thorough! Thank you for putting in all the effort. Please let us know when you have a set time. Hope I can make it.
