How Survivor Captivated The World

For some reason I had the urge to rewatch Season 1 of Survivor. Watching it a second time made me appreciate what a masterpiece it really was. Hope y'all enjoy!

Man I hadn’t thought of Survivor in years. Massive nostalgia watching this video. Something else that really struck me here is how much it reminded me of Lost. Strangers stuck trying to survive on an island. It’s the same story.

The nostalgia was STRONG when I watched this. I used to have watch parties with my friends in high school when this came out haha

I was watching almost no TV when Survivor started, and I didn’t pick it ip later, either, so your video was interesting in terms of explaining an aspect of American culture I don’t understand. Can’t say I really understand it now, but at least I’m better informed.

It's the only reality TV I've ever watched haha. I thought about watching future seasons after this actually... but it's a huge time commitment.

In Italy we had our local imitation of this show, it was called "L'isola dei famosi" [VIP island]. It was built on the same premisses. I was never really fond of reality TV, but I was intrigued by the first season for the same reasons you've explained.

Yeah, personally I find the "experiment" to be the interesting part. Despite how much I loved season 1, I never watched season 2 or any others because, to me, the experiment was done.

Certainly would never have expected to see Survivor on this channel... Interesting video, even though it's for a show I've never had any interest in watching.

Yeah reality TV is definitely not in my usual wheelhouse - and personally I would never watch it today. That said, I think the EMERGENCE of the phenomenon is interesting enough. I have friends who have watched EVERY season of Survivor and I don't know how they do it.
