Hey! I appreciate you teaching us all of that, but I want to ask you something, whenever I try to edit something for my client, my mind goes blank, I feel like I am nothing without assets, templates or files, like there's no instant creativity, any advice on that and how can I come up with genuine ideas and actually execute it rather than just relying on external resources and all that?
Good question. It is inevitable to feel the blank page syndrome, and even more so when your work requires being creative, but it happens to all of us. Sometimes I have this feeling, when I face a new project from scratch or I'm looking for ideas for a tutorial, I have a hard time getting started, I open After Effects and nothing comes to mind, I think this happens because I'm too perfectionist or because I'm "afraid" of not doing it well, but believe me, from a loose idea or a word, even watching a movie or through a song, ideas suddenly start to flow. What I do is write everything down, even if it's stupid or I'm about to sleep, I write it down on my phone or I make a drawing (badly drawn because I don't know how to draw) and I leave it aside just in case. After this I always try to turn that idea into an animation, it is true that some do not work, I can tell you that I have hundreds of projects with animations that I have started and I have not even finished them, but the important thing here is to break that inertia of mental block. Looking at motion graphics on Instagram works well for me, I also tend to use Pinterest a lot to look for fonts, designs, colors, animations, etc... and if I see an image or something that may be interesting now or later, I save that link.
