May & June Update! | Patreon
My dogs have done everything in their power today to prevent me from posting this and are currently barking in an attempt to distract me, as they have been on and off for the last three hours.
Aren't animals just the cutest?
I took May off from making an update since when looking back at the end of the month, I'd really just worked on one project (the green and gold menswear ensemble) with mixed amounts of success.
In June however, I managed to make the majority of an 1830s gown, a bonnet, and some cute fifties dresses - along with continuing progress on the menswear ensemble. I managed to start painting my 1860s butterfly wings (long overdue) and start on a new knitting project (what else is new?) amidst some medication changes.
It still wasn't as productive as I'd like, but it was something! And I'm feeling hopeful that I'll have a few projects done, and photos/videos of them to share before the end of July.
I hope all of you had a great June, and as always thanks for the support! I will see you in July!

I miss your occasional videos of non sewing subjects… your unicorns were my favourite. But I do love your programs as you keep trying which has finally got me back to work with my hooks and needles (both sewing and knitting). Thank you so much for being you and sharing.
Even if you don't finish it, I would love to know more about the unique construction on the Du Barry 5693 skirt that you mentioned in the video. I really enjoy your sewing videos.
What a fun update! I really love the strawberry fabric shirt!! I hope you finish it. I also enjoy the rickrack you added. My grandmother was born in 1898, I have just started using her old sewing machine it is a model called a Windsor B. If it wasn't for you, I would never have started sewing! The machine, a treadle, just hums so happily again. It has you to thank for it. It hadn't been used regularly since the 50's and I like to think it is happy once again to be doing its work. :-) I am sorry to hear your mental health still is a struggle and as you said the state of the world doesn't help There is a saying I really like to think about in terms of this...and it is.. You may not be able to give all the good that the world needs, but the world needs all the good you can give. Angela, you bring joy... just by being. I hope you know that. Every time I video pops up it is so exciting. It is sad that as women we are still subject to so much government interaction and also what the media has done to views of ourselves. I hope you realize....you are beautiful on the outside, but you know what? That is probably one of the least most miniscule parts about you and what makes you so likeable. In the end people remember how you made them feel, not how you looked making them feel that way. :-) You are a kind soul, I hope you find some grace to give yourself. Best.
I cannot wait for the video and worn photos of the jerkin, doublet and pants. They are just too cool! I love them so, so much!
I just love your videos. I really enjoyed your rough cut video that you found easier to put out. I would also enjoy an asmr esq video. No need to chat. I also struggle with my self image. I find the more fun I dress the less I care about the size of my tummy. I wish you well. Xxxx
I am so curious about what you do with your costumes after they are made. I would love to see videos about content other than sewing.
I have chronic depression such that I have been on antidepressants for over 20 years. Fetzima worked best for me. Took it along with aripiprazole and 20 mg Adderall. I felt great! Unfortunately I got Medicare and Fetzima was too expensive so changed to Wellbutrin. Along with the other two meds. You might call my mood dysthemic now. But life is do-able. Had a friend who tried everything. Finally had ECT and it worked wonders. Still no depression after 2 years. As far as motif. You won’t get it. You just have to START on a project, then you’ll get motivated. Also, you are lovely. I used to think I was ugly and fat at your age. I was teaching at a university and looked at my students-all female- and I realized they were ALL beautiful because youth is beauty. Even the sloppy ones who didn’t care what they looked like looked good. Those who take care of their appearance, like you do, we’re especially nice looking. So quit being so hard on yourself. You are perfect.
i'd love to see the 20's bloomers
I recommend as a motivation project: do a Florence ceramic dress inspired twofer, one to wear in every day style made of light fabrics and on historical to the max?
Thanks for the update! Getting motivated can be hard, but we all appreciate it. My one suggestion for improving your mental health: counseling/therapy. Having a professional to talk to during the rough periods is priceless, I know from experience!
Be gentle on yourself. We’re living in stressful times! Perhaps doing things that soothe the soul will bring comfort. Don’t be hard on yourself. I have a similar problem with weight for the same reason. It’s taken me quite a while to accept that this is me at this moment and it’s OK. I’ve put off making clothes for myself because of my weight, but not any longer. There are enough people who are critical of us, we don’t have to be one of those people ( being critical of us). I love the 1830s dress and the bonnet. You are so creative! Thank you for sharing this with us 💕 Sending best wishes and healing vibes from Down Under 🌺💐🌸💕🇦🇺🥰
That green puffed trim is incredible!!! I'm super excited to see the full videos for some of what you've been working on, all the projects look so cool even just on the dress form. Thanks for showing us!
I think people who don’t normally struggle with mental health are struggling. Take care of yourself and don’t be so hard on yourself
Take care of yourself first and show yourself some grace. My favorite color is green and I’m loving all the green in this video: the fabric and your hair!
