Finally Making SECRET PANTS (culottes)

That thumbnail is giving me major "Expectation vs Reality" meme vibes, oh man.

This was filmed over the course of a few days, and consists of me vlogging the process of making culottes from a 1940s pattern.

I really liked the construction process of these, and the final fit - but the fabric was a bit of a fail. I'm not sure what drape-y suitings are good for but the answer is: definitely not this! I think the fabric really fails the garment, which is a shame.

I hope you enjoy seeing me put it together regardless - and if you do, you're in luck! I've filmed...4 other videos in the same style this month.

These blouses were made from Simplicity 8593 and will be part of a pattern review and vlog. This was supposed to go up at the same time as this video, but I have not yet filmed an outro (oops).

Another vlog is about this blouse - and another features a coordinating skirt set (the winner of last months poll).

The other vlog is about a very eleborate 1880s gown I will have progress photos of to share soon.

SPEAKING of photos, this was supposed to be my weekend upload but editing delays got in my way. So keep an eye out for it next week - a Making Of style video about my Miss Frizzle inspired dress, which is, of course, decorated with dogs.

So stay tuned, and thank you so much for your support!

These turned out pretty cute, especially considering the fabric working against you. The pintuck on the crease line was a great idea, but it definitely highlights the inseam area, which I'm blaming on the fabric. Never know until you try, right? Still love to see all your content, even short little videos or blog style.

I can't wait to see the other videos, too! It's too bad this one didn't work out. I know the feeling about the right fabric for the pattern. I had a fabric that I loved and had in my stash for two years and then used them for a pattern...that made this lovely fabric look like one of my gran's nightgowns. Nothing against the nightgowns, just not what I'd want to wear out and about. Total heartbreaker.

I’ve a trouser pattern that calls for light weight suiting with good drape in the fabric options but while they’re a wide legged pair of trousers they're far more fitted through the hips and waist than these culottes are.

I agree, the silhouette and pattern of these culottes is super cute and very flattering but the fabric is too jenky. I kind of want to make these for myself out of a funky print and add a bib 🤩
