Attempting to Style Two Wigs & The Two Hour Hat
Today's video talks through the process of styling a wig to pair with a future Italian Renaissance project. It ended up being a mess of curls and braids, but it should still do the trick!
I also included some vlog footage of turning a curled wig from a previous project into an 18th century hedgehog-esque poof, and altering a hat to go with it. This part was a lot of fun - I'm much better at teasing wigs than braiding them, lol!
I love wigs for the reason they can drastically change your look very quickly, without being a big expenditure. But I find the fiber much harder to style than human hair, and wearing them for more than a minute gives me a headache.
I get really frustrated styling them AND wearing them, but I have to do it pretty often these days, so I wanted to film some of the process.
I do miss the days where my natural hair was suitable for historical styles...but I much prefer its short length and bright color on a day to day basis. So I shall continue to suck it up and style wigs, regardless of my thoughts on the process!

good gracious..... that hat is Divine! Not enough fancy hat wearing happens these days if you ask me!!
You could also use a spray bottle of hot water and spray each section as you roll the hair and it won't take so long. I used to style wigs as a job and that is what we did. You will get the same tight curls without all of the excess water in the foam rollers.
where do you purchase your wigs from? they look amazing!
