A fabric haul so big it took me four months to edit it

Edit: This video was accidentally set to private when I posted it last night and despite marking it unlisted shortly thereafter there were still some issues.

I've tried this link in incognito and safari when not logged in and it appears to be working, so hopefully it is resolved now! Please let me know if you have any further issues.

This is long overdue—like by four months. It was filmed in May, and most of these materials were purchased around my birthday back in April.

The quantity is kind of obnoxious but after a literal year of not being excited about fabric at all, I got a bit overexcited, lol.

I actually still have the footage from a haul I filmed in January, too, which showed all the fabric I bought in 2023 (there was not much but probably more than there should have been given how little I sewed) maybe that will get edited someday.

But for now and for completions sake I figured I’d tack on the purchases I’ve made in the 4-5 months since filming this (because there aren't that many—and I will link all the mentioned shops below!

So, fabric mart got a bit more of my money—probably to no one’s surprise.

I ended up getting this cotton that looks and feels very much like a wool but is machine washable. It would be perfect for a dress in the coming season.

It also matches a coating I got from metro textiles—I was eyeing this up for several months and finally pulled the trigger when they last had a sitewide sale. I think they still have some left, so for anyone interested, I’d say the texture reminds me a bit of craft felt in terms of weight and hand. It’s not the most luxurious but I think it will be really easy to work with. They also describe it as being stretchy but I disagree with that.

Also from metro textiles I got these punched faux leathers. I’m very impressed with the quality of these. I’m not overly knowledgeable about leather in general but they are more convincing than like, 90% of ones I’ve seen. They are quite soft and much nicer than I expected given that they were about $6/yd on sale.

Metro-textiles and fabric mart are both salvage suppliers, so they buy overstock or end of the line materials from all sorts of sources. This means the quality, pricing, and quantities, are always all over the place. I’ve hated some things I’ve gotten from them and loved others, it’s very hit or miss.

Anyway, I bought these to go with the many red materials mentioned in this video.

Further proof of the variety fabric mart offers, a few weeks ago they had several dozen Tula Pink fabrics on sale for $4-$5

For those who don’t know, she is on the higher end of quilt fabric designers (and one of my favorite fabric designers) and her materials often go for $10.99-$14.99 depending on the retailer—and those retailers never have sales beyond 10% off, really.

So this was unheard of. I got a few of the ones in “my” color palette of pink and aqua, which sadly seems to be going out of style in terms of decor. But I will cling to it forever because I’m stubborn like that.

I also fell in love with some of her new (well, they were new at the time) dinosaur collection. Extinct creatures in shades of pink while surrounded by polka dots and flowers? Sign me up.

I planned at the time projects for each of these, just for the sake of estimating material quantities. I believe these three were, from left to right, dress, blouse, skirt.

The first fabric I used from this collection was actually as lining for my recent project haha.

Okay, that is it for additions since filming this. Below is the alphabetical list of etsy shops mentioned in this video, and I’ll add a few notes further down.

Fabric shops:

https://fabricmartfabrics.com/

https://metrotextilesnyc.com/

NYC shops in question are:

Hamed Fabrics

Pacific Trimming

embroidered patches from “EmbroideryMoks” - they have storefronts on a bunch of websites.

And if it is easier, some photos so you don't have to go between the video and this post if anything looks interesting.

Note about this shop:  These are the same store. They have an independent website that sells it all but I have not ordered from it yet https://www.indianlacesandfabric.com/ — on etsy they had great customer service and super quick shipping!

Note about this shop: Really unimpressed with them, I would not recommend them for anything unless they are the only place selling it. Their descriptions and customer service have major issues and they claim to be located in the US despite dropshipping all their items.

I don't care where something comes from, but I think lying about that is a bad sign.

Note about this shop [FabricShow]: I think I put the wrong photo in the video, the organza from this seller was used for the Regency Mermaid project and is NOT in this video!

The blue and iridescent ones I showed were from the third listing in this picture.

Speaking of that, this is the mesh/lace fabric for the mermaid projects that I did not feature in this video. I think I probably didn’t want to risk getting the other fabrics dirty since it stains anything it touches.

it's from https://www.etsy.com/shop/Kerylace

Notes about this shop: I forgot to include the listing photos in the video and I feel bad about that.

I have no notes about these.

Honorary mentions:

These lace fabrics I got on amazon and returned before buying the green one. These were actually great quality though and the seller has a ton of 5yd cuts of beaded lace for pretty awesome prices. I will likely buy from them again!

Their store name is called "mianlei" I think. Here is a marketplace link.

And while on amazon (and because I'm wearing them now) I want to give a shoutout to these wrist supports. They aren’t braces, more like compression stockings but for your wrists.

A lot of them are too heavy duty for me or too flimsy, these are a nice balance. They are also way cheaper than other ones I’ve liked best in the past ($10 for four pairs instead of $10 for one) I bought both sizes and they both work for me.

I’m just legitimately very pleased with these so I figured I’d put them at the end here, it isn't even an affiliate link lol.

Okay, that is it! Thanks for reading (and watching and supporting).

See you next month!

No problems with the video, but it looks like there are photos in the description, I think? Nothing is loading for me.

I really like the idea of posting on the screen where you got the fabric. Great for someone who finds herself in NEED of the fabic. I love you fabric hauls and looking foward to a pattern haul!

This was just genuinely delightful. And such a great reframe of the trope around feeling bad for buying pretty fabric. Your joy feels contagious, and I love it xx

So happy to be back on your patreon! The silver appliques would be really cool as like faux pauldrons!
