BMO Files Weekly Tournaments & Drafts

Hey everyone,
While the BMO TV patch release is not far off, I spent a week adding a new important feature to BMO Files. You see, the common understanding is that the game is dead, right? Because at any given time there aren't many active players available. And that's fair. But we are also not a huge community, and while we did have 80 people online simultaneously right after the initial launch, I don't think we can ever expect that kind of traffic for a game in this niche community. We'll see. I have some big plans for the game that I'll reveal when the time is right.

So I think we need a different solution than just the queues. We already have the #bmofiles-matchmaking channel on Discord, and I hope that'll be used, but people have been talking about organizing tournaments. And since I believe that we will also never be in the position where everybody will be on the Discord, we need a way to invite the people that just randomly stumble on the game on tfgames. So I made an in-game tournament system.

And after a little Discord poll, I introduced two weekly tournaments.

Saturday Night BMO - Saturdays at 9PM (starts at both CET and US CT)
Wednesday Draft - Wednesdays at 9PM (starts at both CET and US CT)

You may notice it's Wednesday TODAY, so get the game and sign up for tonight's first Draft at 9 PM EU and US Central Time.

Anyways, tournaments can be Best of 1, Best of 3, Swiss, Round Robin, Single Elimination, have group stages, etc. So it's a huge new system. I did a lot of testing, and on my end, everything worked, but obviously this will be brittle at the start. I will improve this until it works flawlessly.

During the current Anima Ascending Expansion cycle, you'll be able to unlock these two new special cardbacks. Both will be very rare rewards once the game is finished, just saying.

And you might have noticed that I use the word "Draft". Well... I also made a whole new Draft system for that. A Draft is when, for the sake of the tournament, the players get packs, open them, pick one card, and then hand the other cards to the player next to them, until everyone has a collection of cards big enough to make a deck. I love Drafts in other TCGs, so I really wanted to introduce this format here.

This is a look at the earlier draft version while testing. It looks a little different now, but you get the idea.

I really hope some of you will appreciate this new addition to the system so we can get more regular play rounds for everyone.

And I'm sure what I have planned for the game next is gonna be a lot more popular. See you again with the new BMO TV patch in just a short while.

Best,
Jenni
