A Few Thoughts About Everything That's Happening 馃挋

Over the past few days, I've seen countless posts, videos, and comments about EA going private. Some people are saying "The Sims is over," others believe the franchise will completely change, and some are even convinced that content creation around The Sims is coming to an end.

The truth is... none of us really knows what the future will look like.

Yes, EA has become a private company, and naturally this raises many questions. But as of today, there have been no official announcements saying that builders, creators, YouTubers, or Patreon creators will no longer be able to create or share content the way we do now.

As many of you know, I'm a full-time content creator. This isn't just a hobby for me鈥攊t's my job and my livelihood. So of course I have concerns too. It would be dishonest to say otherwise.

What worries me even more, though, is how quickly speculation spreads across social media. Headlines like "The Sims is finished" or "Everything is over" create fear, and that fear spreads from one person to another. As creators, we often feel the impact of those reactions directly because people start questioning whether they should continue supporting us or whether our work still has a future.

Personally, I've decided not to let speculation guide my decisions.

Until EA officially communicates any changes that affect creators, I'll continue doing what I love: building, creating, and sharing my work with all of you.

At the same time, Paralives is entering the picture. It's still in its early days, but I truly believe it has a lot of potential, and I'm excited to explore it alongside The Sims.

That said, The Sims will always have a special place in my heart. It has been my favorite game for many years, and regardless of what the future holds, I don't plan on walking away from it.

For now, I believe the best thing we can do is stay informed, avoid unnecessary panic, and wait for official information instead of letting rumors shape our expectations.

I'd really love to hear your thoughts.

How do you feel about everything that's happening? Are you worried, excited, optimistic, or simply waiting to see what comes next?

Hi Tara. I'm so glad you brought this subject up. Just this morning I was reading through a thread on the buyout subject and yes, there was plenty of speculation when there didn't need to be. One person said she heard the new owners were going to get rid of the same-sex marriage feature in the game. I replied back to her saying that if she read the official letter that came out from EA a few days before the buyout was finalized, she would have seen where it said that such features like that would not be removed because it would not be cost or time effective to do so. And there lies the problem. People receive information that is needed but they don't take the time to read it. I'm sure in time more information will come out. I have this feeling that things won't be as drastic in a negative way for The Sims as people might think.

Thank you! I completely agree with you. There has been so much speculation, and unfortunately many people react to headlines or comments without reading the official information first. That's exactly why I wanted to write this post鈥攖o encourage people to look at the facts instead of spreading rumors. I feel the same way. I don't think the future of The Sims will be as negative as some people are predicting. Of course, there may be changes over time, but for now I think it's best to wait for official announcements and see what actually happens. 馃槉

I'm mostly worried about mod updates. What if the new EA releases new DLC which requires mod updates. But I decide not to buy the new DLC, so I stay with the old version. I'm thinking of the big mods like MCCC or UI Cheats, and many others. It seems like things will get out of sync over time. Well, I'm with you 100% percent that we just don't know what will happen next, so it's not worth stressing over today. I'll keep playing with what I already own (which is basically everything except a couple of kits).

I don't own everything either. I even skipped the latest expansion pack. 馃槉 Personally, I don't think we'll see huge changes overnight. There may be some updates to the creator guidelines or policies in the future, but right now we simply don't know. Like you, I'm choosing to enjoy the game I already have instead of worrying about all the "what ifs." Hopefully, we'll get clear information from EA when the time comes. Until then, I'll just keep building and creating. 馃挋
