Royal Mail - Victorian Post Box
If you bought Adventure Awaits, you may have noticed this post box in Gibbi Point. Of course, it's just street-deco and not in the normal build/buy catalogue.
I thought I had seen it before, and it turns out that it is (almost) exactly the same as real post boxes installed in the UK during the Victorian Era (the real ones also had the Queen's cypher).
So first of all, I wanted to make this item buyable as a decoration - but also it would be cool if it could function as a mailbox as well!
So I did it!
Now, if you have a rural or village property, you can install this post box in place of something less environmentally appropriate.
OF COURSE a post-officer didn't DELIVER mail to these boxes, but you probably can't have a post box in the game where you can send mail (and pay bills etc), without it also delivering mail to the property - without doing some deep-dive tuning/extra coding.
The in-game street-deco box is red, and I've added green, yellow, and blue swatches for variety; and this is Base Game Compatible!
(NOTE: This does not make the street-deco post boxes functional - this is a new object that functions separately)
Since I can't edit the EA animation, unfortunately when sims send mail, it doesn't line up with where the mail slot is; but when there's post, you will see mail sticking out of it.

this is so useful <3
Love this!
You are the bomb, Zee! Such great idea, love it to pieces. Was it tough to do?
It's been sitting in my completed folder for a week or so now, so I forgot I had some frustrating moments - for some reason when I zoomed out, the box will burrow into the ground and I couldn't figure out why, and some other little annoyances that I had to work on. I think what I find most fun about these things is the investigation. I love to learn what's making something do something. If I can figure it out, maybe I can use that knowledge for something else - which is how I've been learning how to make things function in a different way. I'm sure you will love an upcoming piece of furniture I just worked out yesterday, something else just not available in the sims yet! I'm very excited about it
Nice work.
