Vanity Fair Sewing Room Set - Sims 2 Conversion

Violà! My latest conversions set converted from The Sims 2: this is Cashcraft's Vanity Fair Sewing Room. I have seen some of these items converted by other creators, but some items I have not seen at all. I have certainly tried to improve on the items released by others - hopefully you prefer to use my versions 😂

In my tableaux, I have made a little dress-maker's store - the last item from the set happened to be a cash register, so it completely transformed how I viewed the set.

There's also a few pieces I decided not to convert: a separate sewing machine, the sewing machine table without the machine there, and a table lamp that I felt didn't really go with anything.

In Cashcraft's Sims 2 set, the sewing machine functioned in some way. I don't have The Sims 2, so I don't actually understand how it worked, or whether it really did anything other than play an animation.

I have, however, made the sewing table behave like a desk - so you can have sims sit there if you want to take some pictures or something for a story, or it can just be decorative.

SO What's in the set?

  • Hat on a stand

  • Pile of fabric

  • 4x Dress forms (3 with dresses on, one without)

  • Desk chair

  • Pattern cutting board (with miscellaneous paraphernalia)

  • Miscellaneous paraphernalia (separate to the above mention)

  • Pile of thread spools

  • Ribbons

  • Pin cushion

  • Sewing machine oil can

  • "Sewing shelf" (it's more of a fabric wall display with a pinboard)

  • Sewing cabinet

  • Work table

  • Treadle sewing machine

  • Freestanding sewing basket (/box table thing)

  • Tabletop sewing basket (/box)

  • Cash register

IF you have Cottage Living, the sewing baskets function as a box for embroidery, plus hold storage, so you can store all your wool and thread etc. If you don't have CL, these items will be decoration only (plus deco slots on the free-standing one, so you can use it as a table).

IF you have Get To Work, the Cash Register functions as a Retail Store cash register (this will not show in game as deco if you do not have GTW).

The cash register will only sit on a specific slot type - this is included on a lot of shop counter cc (I hope all!), and there's three EA ones in game.

OKAY, companion mods! If you have Cottage Living, I really recommend Jane Simsten's mods:

Functioning Spinning Wheel
Extra Cross-Stitch Patterns

Please recolour if you want! Let me know if you have, and I would love to share!

Let me know if you have any questions, but please don't suggest more things for me to convert -- I already have a HUGE to-do list, and I really don't want to focus all my time on Sims 2 conversions.

Have fun!

Zee—I don’t know your name, so I’m addressing you as Zee. A functional sewing machine (a lovely one!) was created by Ruby from Taiwan. She is a very talented person with beautiful sets—including Victorian-style ones—but unfortunately, most of them are paid. This sewing machine is one of them, too :(

I love that set, so gorgeous! The sewing machine in that set functions as a computer - I think so your sim will sit at the desk and look like it's doing something. She didn't change the tuning, so your sim will still type and click a mouse 😭

OMG!! THANK YOU! I can't recall if I mentioned this in my last post thanking you and confessing my undying love LOL for converting Cashcraft's Regency dining, (my favorite sims dining set EVER - In which case there will never EVER be a need for another dining set in the sims 4) but the only thing I missed in The Sims 2 and Sim 3 WERE Cashcraft's historic creations, That's all I would use. I would spend FOREVER decorating and just wind up going up and down floors, scrolling around just admiring. I have to admit I do have other conversions from other creators (ladesire and Clara, I believe) who have converted this breath-taking Victorian sewing room (which actually got me into sewing irl when it first came out for TS2 for a few years lol) to which I am super grateful to them but using them over the years on the Sims 4 I've noticed slight imperfections and flaws and color options I wasn't completely crazy over (beggars can't be choosers though, and you should never look a gift horse in the mouth!). BUT after placing and using your conversion of The Regency Dining I noticed whatever it takes to convert/mesh (I'm clueless) you did every piece EXQUISITLY. They were literally perfection. So, in short, it appears I will now be replacing my current "Cashcraft Victorian Sewing Room" with all your converted pieces, because I would bet my life, they too are going to be FLAWLESS! So, again, THANK YOU!!! :)

haha thank you, I'm so glad you are so happy. It's unfortunate there's so many pieces in these sets, I might try my hand at recolouring, but it's quite daunting. The problem with these Sims 2 items is that the images are not very defined, which makes them really hard to recolour nicely.... There's a couple pieces here where I changed little details - like the bits with fashion plates: originally just 1890s pictures, I made one with 1860s, and also invisible versions, which I probably should have mentioned in the post - but you can see it in the pictures (the fashion plates/paper disappear, so you can just put whatever there instead).

Hey Zee in Sims 2 the sewing machines actually worked for the Sins, you could make things like pot holders, and other things if your sim had the more advanced skill in sewing mine never did lol.. but as always it is absolutely gorgeous. 🤩
