Victorian Caterpillar Incubator (Adventure Awaits)
I haven't found any different caterpillar incubators, since getting Adventure Awaits; and the game one is pretty ugly, and definitely not appropriate for us historical simmers! So, I decided that I needed to make a new one.
With the help of one of Remysa's birdcages, I have made a couple new incubators for you!
Each one (big and small) has 8 varieties in three colours: a sort of lattice, and a fancy curly one - each with a mesh to ensure the butterflies don't fly away! Each one has a second swatch where the inside mesh parts are whiter - so 16 swatches in total!
You can find these in Activities & Skills>Activity (kids/indoor/outdoor); & Miscellaneous.
Requires EP20 Adventure Awaits
Once you start raising a caterpillar, you can see the big fat caterpillar, and you can feed it and view it;
Then it ends up making its chrysalis, and you can read to it or view it, before it becomes a butterfly.
When your entomology skill increases, you can raise different types of butterfly; collect them all!!
My only disappointment is that the butterflies are sort of transparent, and you can see things through them - even if they're not supposed to be see-through. As hard as I tried, I couldn't improve this - it's a game VFX that can't be edited; EA cleverly hid this in their incubator by using so much white mesh (which is why I decided to do an additional swatch each with a lighter interior).
You can find and download loads of stuff including more deco cages, via Remysa's Tumblr here!
Amusez-vous!

i love this! would you ever consider making a cc historical butterfly habitat with a matching vibe to this one? this is so perfect for scholarly and somewhat gothic victorian sims studying life and nature
Oh yes! this is something I could start pretty soon, after I'm done with some new gas lights... I have also been trying to do some sims 2 conversions but haven't been as motivated as other things 🫠
This is just brilliant, and so cute!
thank you sooo much thank you for your mind! if this is inappropriate let me know but do you think its possible that imaginary friends are able to get medieval and/or victorian versions of themselves? something less...modern?
When I first learned about the imaginary friend, I was thinking just this. I will look into it, because I finally have a baby since getting the pack, so I will want to play with the imaginary friend. I need to work out what the mechanics are when it turns person-like, and how it does that - it seems it might be quite complicated, but I am definitely looking into it!
So beautiful 😍
AMAZING!!! I love it!!!
Maaannnnnn, you are amazing! Thanks so much :-)
OMG that's lovely, Zee! Such a wonderful idea! Bravo!
