"Tulip" Curved Gas Lights Set
~Updates at bottom of post ~ Also, this is proving to be one of my favourite sets I've made, they just look so beautiful to me!
THIS is the ambitious project I have been working on for a little while, and was an idea I've had for a lot longer. INDOOR GAS LIGHTS.
Gas lighting was used since the late 18th century, but it wasn't until around the middle of the 19th century that most homes were hooked up to a reticulated ("piped") system. The Industrial Revolution meant that technology was constantly improving, and the Victorians used a mixture of candles, oil lamps, and gas to light their homes.
A relatively low pressure, the gas piped into homes was connected to pipes in walls and ceilings, connecting to lamps, both simple and elaborately decorated. All you needed to do was turn the tap ("turn on the light"), and ignite the gas.
I have made a set of three different chandeliers - each in Medium and Tall heights: a three light, 6 light, and 12 lights version.
There's also one wall light.
Each light has 7 swatches: gold with black bases, gold gold, brass with black bases, brass brass, black, grey, and silver.
The set also includes... a "Helpful step-stool" - a three rung stool I made, which has slots for your deco items; this has 10 swatches: 5 different coloured wood, each with gold handles, and brass handles.
And FINALLYY; a little box of matches!
(This has a picture of Queen Victoria, and in Simlish it says "Victoria Matches", the corner labels say "Now only 2§")
I said that this was an ambitious project, because the gas lights are special - I have LAYERED candle flames. Each light has FIVE candle flames in very slightly different places - this gives us a wider, and taller flame (one flame in the centre I have raised up higher then the other four).
Here's a comparison of ONE candle flame, versus FIVE/Gas flame:
You can, of course, reduce the strength of the flame, and it won't shine as bright as we see above.
Hopefully you find room for these in your home!
The pictures I've included are from my Club "The Ignatious"
I feel like these really suit this sort of "Gentlemen's Club" vibe (but ladies are definitely able to join the club - you just have to be RICH)
