"The Gesner" - Oil Lamp
(Please see changelog at bottom of post) Download the latest version, which is BGC here!
In 1854 Abraham Gesner invented kerosene (or "paraffin"), considered a much "cleaner" fuel, in comparison to previous liquid fuels at the time. It is a clear liquid that has a low scent when burned - and with a proper wick, there should be no smoke.
I have a couple Victorian oil lamps in my own home: one has a globe over a chimney, the other just the chimney (or "flue"); so, I have desperately wanted similar oil lamps for my Victorian Sims.
Using the main base from Vampireloreskill's Keroseeing lamp, I have fabricated my first oil lamp: The Gesner.
There are two versions, Transparent, and Opaque; each of these has an etched globe (very similar to the one I own), as well as two different flower decorations. Each design comes in a golden brass, silver, and wooden base; and the transparent version also features frosted variations.
(pictured above are just some of the swatches)
The lamp is Off-The-Grid; however, you must have the Cats & Dogs Expansion Pack.
I also recommend you take advantage of the light dimmer/intensity tool in Live Mode, to adjust the brightness of the globe to your desire.
Transparent: 15 swatches - three etched transparent, six with flowers; six translucent/frosted with flowers.
Opaque: 9 swatches - three etched, six flowers, all opaque/translucent with glow.
The flame inside flickers, just like a real lamp!
Bon Simming! Au revoir!

Update 23/06/2025:Corrected some swatches where it seemed there were cuts or slashes in the images,Changed the globe in the transparent version: the pattern now appears properly in front of the inside flue; however, the flue itself appears cleaner (no matter how dark I make the image), so, far away it almost looks invisible. If you would like to keep the old version, it is labelled V2 - new version is labelled V4 (don't ask about V3 😂)
Update 01/05/2025:Changed footprint to fit in more locations, increased light intensity of transparent version.
UPDATE 10/12/2024: Increased the light intensity of the Opaque lamp from 25 to 90 - please use light adjustment in Live mode if you would like to reduce the light emitted. Also updated the light colour for the transparent version.
