Hi guys! 💙

I honestly didn’t expect the School Bus Service mod to get so much love! Thank you for all your support, lovely messages and suggestions. I’ve reshuffled my modding workload to bring you something so many of you have been asking for…

An animated version of School Bus Service! 🚌🥰

See the various features in the video above and on my latest TikTok. The beta release begins here on Patreon on 30th October for Representative and Ronnie’s Ambassador members! 💙

🧪 Why Beta Release?

This is a temporary mod and is part of a bigger vehicle project. My plan is to turn it into a new, larger vehicle mod by the end of 2026. This mod will be replaced by that mod which will have a public release. Your feedback during this release will help me test the road framework and improve performance before making that the next step! 💙

🚌 What’s included in this release?

• The American school bus only, with animated arrivals, boarding and departures (each vehicle needs its own animation work, which has been a very time consuming part of building this mod)

• Your household sims as passengers (NPC passengers coming in a future update)

🏡 Which lots will it work on?

For this first release, I’ve focused on tailoring the mod around the 259 lots that are residential by default (including all of newcrest).  I will provide a list of these lots and which ones will be compatible.

See below supported road types:

👀 Bigger Mod Incoming…

To build the framework, I tested around 259 residential lots, noting which way a vehicle should arrive and leave on each one (which nearly killed me 😅).

The bigger mod will come in 2 or 3 parts, and if this beta goes well, I’m hoping to release the next one soon! 🤞 Your feedback, bug reports and screenshots will help ALOT, so please tell me everything!

❓What happens to the original public version?

The original, non-animated School Bus Service isn’t going anywhere! The version where the bus simply appears at the stop will stay available for free. The two versions will have different lot compatibility.

⚠️ Technical limitations

• Not every residential lot is supported - The animation has only been tested on residential lots with specific road types in front of them. Lots with no road in front won’t get school bus service at all.

• Max 8 kids per household - Up to 8 children and teens can ride on the school bus

• Lag can delay the bus - If your game is lagging, the bus may not spawn on time. Pausing for a moment helps it catch up.

• Ultra speed glitches - At Speed 3, some animation glitches may occur. Speed 1 or 2 is smoothest.

• Routing and clipping - The bus needs clear space in front of it. So keep your sims out of the road when the bus is arriving and/or departing

🚇 The Unknown Simmer is releasing a super cool TFL travel mod this month (for thy tea and crumpets simmers🤣)! Watching her TikToks might be what got me thinking about buses and the sims 3 in the first place. My future mod won’t include general bus services, so go check hers out! 👉 LINK

🏎️ Alex Croft made a super cool Super Sports Car mod, and I couldn’t have made this mod without learning from some parts of it, so I have to give flowers! Check it out! 👉 LINK

🎨 Pixified Tips - As someone who has the attention span of a goldfish and the patience of a cat at 5am demanding breakfast, I love how this simmer makes tutorials that are beneficial for neurodivergent people. I’ve used their tutorials ALOT! 👉 LINK
