WIP - Political World ๐- Campaign Promises, Policies & Canvassing
I'm starting a regular WIP series for the Political World called the Weekly Address. This update is a big one with a lot happening behind the scenes, and I want to share progress and sneak peaks as I build so I can get your feedback along the way rather than waiting until the end to show it all. I want to make sure i am including features that people want for this update! ๐
This week I've been working on campaign promises, creating in-game campaign leaflets and objects, and building a residential canvassing feature as part of the wider campaigning that occurs during the election season.
Campaign Promises ๐
Politicians as part of this update will run on real promises, with policies they pledge to enact if they get into office.
So far, I've drafted 45 policy ideas and will be narrowing these down to 35, giving each ideology around 5 or 6 possible options to pull from. However, each candidate will only campaign on 3 policies, which should create much more variety from one election to the next.
No two elections will be exactly the same, regardless of the world or candidate.
Iโm also very open to suggestions, so if there are any laws or policy ideas you would love to see included in the mod, feel free to leave them in the comments, or via discord
Plumboblican Sneak Peek
Election candidates will visit the active Simโs home to ask for their vote and promote their campaign. They may offer a campaign leaflet, or your Sim can ask them for one.
The leaflet is added to the Simโs inventory and gives citizens a chance to learn what each election candidate is actually promising before they vote.
(included 4 policies for WIP purposes, this will be 3 policies when it is released)
More Background
Each election will have three active candidates, decided based on the top ideologies in that world. Elections will reflect the political makeup of each world rather than including every ideology every time.
Citizens can get to know their candidates and find out what they are campaigning on. But not every politician can be trusted.
Every candidate is randomly assigned a hidden political nature: Corrupt, Opportunist, Incompetent, or Principled. These traits are not tied to ideology, so any candidate could turn out to be genuine or completely unreliable. This will determine whether they actually follow through if they win.
It is up to citizens to spot the warning signs before they vote, or take the risk and hope for the best.๐๐

Iโd love to hear your thoughts on the new campaigning features so far, and especially any policy/law ideas youโd like to see included.
As always thank you for your support !! ๐
