Invite someone: an unlimited week of Babelith for both of you
It's in 0.99.94. Every Patreon account linked in the app, free or paid, now has its own invite code. When someone else redeems it, you both get a week of unlimited Babelith, the live translation while you play. And it adds up: every person you invite gives you another week.
It comes with a change to the free tier that I'd rather tell you straight: Babelith goes from 3 games a week to 2. Invites are the way to get more without paying.
How it works
Link your Patreon account in the app. Following the project for free counts.
The User tab has an "Invite someone" card with your code: eight letters and numbers, like ABCD-EFGH.
Hit "Share". You get a ready-made message with the link to download the app (https://ultra-translator.com/), your code and where to redeem it. You can copy the whole message, just the link or just the code, or open it straight in WhatsApp, Telegram, X or Reddit with the text already filled in. Facebook only gets the link, so there, same as on Discord, copy the message with "Copy message" and paste it in.
The other person downloads the app, links their Patreon and, on that same card, types your code under "Did someone invite you? Their code" and hits "Redeem".
That's it: you both have unlimited Babelith for 7 days.
The weeks add up
Whoever shares gets a week for every person who redeems their code: five people invited, five weeks. Each new week goes on the end of whatever you have left, so they never overlap.
The card keeps count: how many people you've invited, how many weeks you've earned, and the date your unlimited Babelith runs until. When you have no weeks left, it tells you how many free installs you have left.
Games you install Babelith on during an unlimited week stay yours: reinstalling on them later costs nothing.
If you run out of installs for the week, the notice shows your code and the "Share" button, so you can invite someone instead of waiting.
Paid accounts have a code too. Babelith is already unlimited for them, but whoever redeems your code still gets their week. And if you're on a paid tier and redeem someone else's code, they get theirs.
The rules
Each account can redeem one code in its lifetime, and never its own.
One redemption per PC, and a code can't be redeemed on a PC where the inviting account has been used (the inviter's own PC, for example).
Codes never contain 0, O, 1 or I, so they don't get mixed up when you copy them by hand. Upper or lower case, with or without the dash, all work.
The server checks all of this, not the app.
What changes on the free tier
Following the project for free on Patreon gets you Babelith on 2 different games a week. It used to be 3.
The week is still a rolling one: it counts the last 7 days, not Monday to Sunday.
Reinstalling on a game that already counted never costs anything, same as before.
Installs are now recorded on the server, against your Patreon account, instead of on your PC. If the server doesn't answer, the app doesn't block you: it goes by what it has noted on your PC and passes it on to the server when it's back.
If you update before December 1, the app tells the server which games you'd already used Babelith on from that PC, so reinstalling on them still costs nothing. This happens once per account: if you use the same account on several PCs, open the updated app first on the one with the most games.
On any paid tier, Babelith stays unlimited.
If something doesn't work
The card only shows up when your Patreon account is linked and the app can reach the server. If you don't see it, try again a little later.
If redeeming gives you an error you don't understand, or your weeks don't add up, send me a screenshot of the card.
How to update
Grab the latest version from the usual link, or wait for the app to tell you: it checks by itself every time you open it. Whoever gets your code needs the latest version too: the link in the message takes them to the download.
Thanks for spreading the word. 🧡
