Character Values Overhaul
🔽 Download: Mod The Sims / CurseForge / SFS
Requires: Parenthood Game Pack
Recommended: Lot 51 Core Library
Supported Languages: All 🌍
Patch Resilience: High ℹ️
The Character Value (CV) system introduced in Parenthood is underdeveloped and hasn’t been updated in years. In an unmodded game, only 12 traits out of the 60+ traits available to Sims have an impact on CVs. Also, if a child ages up with a worrisome trait like “Evil,” their existing CVs will remain largely unchanged. This mod corrects that and goes several steps further.
What This Mod Does
All traits (including Toddler and expansion pack traits) will now impact Character Values when a Sim is first created.
Rebalances points needed for earning Parenthood traits to make the gameplay more challenging
Increases randomization of Character Values to ensure that no two Sims are exactly alike.
Character Values will now slowly decay over time.
Sims with a Character Value in the red will now behave as if they have the associated negative trait. Ex: a Child Sim with -20 points in Responsibility will behave and roll wants as if they had the Irresponsible trait.
When a Sim ages up, the trait they age up with will now impact their Character Values. (Requires Lot 51 Core Library)
Infant traits will impact a Sim's Character Values when they age up to a Toddler. (Requires Lot 51 Core Library)
Character Value traits now grant their hidden autonomy effects directly. In an unmodded game, these effects would be lost after the Sim aged past Young Adult. (Requires Lot 51 Core Library)
All of the boring Character Value notifications ("Sim is in range to earn Responsible trait") have been replaced with 30+ livelier ones (all notifications fit in the game, are gender neutral, and have been spell checked). This is for English only. All other languages will continue to use their language's default notifications.

Compatibility
Despite the emphasis on traits in this mod, no trait files have been modified. The main files this mod modifies are the lifeSkillStatisitc XMLs and the LifeSkills_Autonomy buff XMLs. I haven't encountered another mod that touches these.
This mod is compatible with mods that increase or decrease the rate at which you gain/lose Character Value points. This includes the difficulty adjustment setting found in MCCC.
Some features of this mod require Lot 51 Core Library
This mod will work without it, but if you want ALL of the features this mod has to offer, you need to make sure that you have "lot51_core.ts4script" somewhere in your mods folder. If you already have it, you're golden. If you don't, you can download it here.
This mod was made possible by Sims 4 Studio.

Hello Ty! S4TI shows that your mod and Bienchen/Sims4Me's mod "Less Headlines" (lifeskills sub package) conflict. The sub-package suppresses those floating +/- value icons when Sims perform actions affecting their character values. While each mod serves separate purposes, I thought I'd bring it to your attention for review and confirmation on whether they do/don't conflict. Thanks for your great mods! Yeah, they do conflict. You can try putting my mod in a priority folder and seeing if that resolves the conflict: https://www.patreon.com/tyjokr/posts/165980351
I recently noticed that traits impact Character Values not only when a sim is first created or ages up, but also on every load. For example, I created a teen sim with Competitive trait. When I choose to follow him to high school, he gets a significant drop (-30) in that two values and raises Responsibility (+15). The same thing happens when returning home. So, in one single day he gets -60 to Conflict Resolution and Emotional Control, and +30 to Responsibility. Even more if I send him somewhere else, or go to CAS/Manage Worlds, or reload game. That way he ends up with Responsible trait in less than 4 days (if started with 0 or higher) without any effort, but is unable to get rid of Uncontrolled Emotions and Argumentative traits, especially the last one, since teens have very limited ways to raise corresponding value. Is this intentional?
This is fixed in the latest update! Thanks for letting me know.
hello, may i ask if somehow this affects why teen sims (active/played, unplayed/npc) no longer get the character values traits once they grow up to young adult? even if they're max red, or max green. i don't know if i perhaps have conflicted mods or something...
Fixed! Thanks for letting me know.
I was just about to update this mod but the old one has three files, package/addon/addon, whereas the new one (downloaded from curseforge) only has one package, is this correct?
Correct. I've gotten rid of the addon for the time being, it needs to be reworked.
