How to Use JayESims x Jaye Hinson Mods (Quick + Helpful)

Hi guys! 💛 Just wanted to check in and give you a small (but useful) guide on how to use JayESims x Jaye Hinson mods, how to get them to show up in-game, and what to do when The Sims decides to be… The Sims.

First things first: bugs happen

We all know the game creates bugs with or without mods. We can’t prevent every error or glitch.
But before every release, me + a small team of testers play through to check things out and make sure everything is working as intended.

Auto vs. User Directed (VERY IMPORTANT)

This is the part that confuses people the most:

AUTO Version

• “Auto” means the actions happen autonomously (without you controlling it).

• Just like how Sims have a mind of their own.

• So yes, you will usually NOT see pie menus for mods/files that you downloaded that say AUTO. That’s normal.

User Directed Version

• “User Directed” means the actions are in your control.

• Mods/files that say User Directed should show pie menus because you’re the one choosing the interactions.

After an EA Update (do this every time)

When EA updates the game:

• Remove your Mods folder before updating (or move it out) to help avoid corruption/conflicts.

• After the update, put your Mods back and make sure Mods + Script Mods are enabled in game options.

• Always restart the game after enabling.

When redownloading an updated version of the same mod

If you’re downloading the same mod again because it’s updated:

• Delete the old version first

• Then delete your localthumbcache.package
  (This clears leftover junk and helps prevent weird issues.)

Troubleshooting: the 50/50 method is your best friend

If something is acting up:

• Do the 50/50 method (remove half your mods, test, then narrow down).
  It’s annoying, but it works, and it saves time.

PLEASE read the instructions

If the XML Injector is not installed, certain interactions, buffs, and trait features will not appear or work as intended.

Place it directly in your Mods folder (no more than one subfolder deep).

⚠️ Important Installation Rule

Each mod comes in two versions:

• User‑Directed Version

• Autonomous Version

You must choose ONE version only.
Do NOT place both versions in your Mods folder at the same time.

Having both installed will cause conflicts, missing interactions, or unexpected behavior.

Every mod comes with instructions, and I really need y’all to read them. Like seriously… please read, lol.
I know some of you are new to mods and that’s okay. It can be intimidating. It can even feel intimidating asking for help. Just know creators all around the world are working with the tools we’re given for a game that’s already buggy.
