I’m gonna be honest bayle the dread is my most listened song of all time on Spotify with around 400 listens. It’s not my favorite song but it’s definitely one of the best in the whole soulsborne series the first 2 sections being sorta the signature stressing high action found in the rest of the soundtrack into the 3rd and final drop that plays near the end of the fight has a feel of immense triumph marking your success in felling bayle. It just feels so good to beat a boss after so many deaths and failed attempts and the end of the song reflects that feeling near perfectly.

With all the Souls Games (This style of game began with games called Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1-3), the story isn't necessary straight forward. Sure, you get story with dialogue, but a lot of story is also hidden in item descriptions etc. Battles take several tries. You die, a lot. That's part of the experience. You simply get better with time and memorize the attacks, etc. Yes, there's magic. You can play a caster. Depending on the boss, your build is better or less suited, so depending on the build, you have an easier or harder time on some bosses. Bale is the dragon. The voices you hear are from an NPC you can summon to help you in the fight. He's hard to spot in the video, and dies shortly before the end of the battle. Elden Ring is certainly worth a try. Yes, some parts can be very spooky, but the bigger horror of the game is the world itself and it's monsters. These games are dark.

Great video Tim! I have a complicated relationship with Elden Ring 😂 FromSoft feels very strongly that the difficulty of their games should be as-designed, so there's no way to really experience the whole game unless you... get good. Sucks to be me, I played about 20 hours of Elden Ring and I never got any better 🙃 I got 1 boss down and then just felt very stuck. But the lore and world are really compelling, so I just watch playthroughs of people who are better than me. The Souls style of game (that Elden Ring is part of) is very interesting because lore is not dispensed in the form of dialogue or exposition most of the time. There are very few quests or NPC interactions and the ones that are there are easy to miss. The lore is in the world, in brief descriptions of things, and in context. Some of it is terrible and world is very gross/gory, but I wouldn't say it's a scary game to play. Occasionally there are some creepy things that come out and startle you but for the most part it's just a dark fantasy.

If you’re gonna check out more Elden Ring (including Elden Ring Nightreign) my personal favorite tracks are Divine Beast Dancing Lion, Godfrey First Elden Lord, Caligo Miasma of Night, and Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia

George RR Martin, yes is credited as helping create the story and lore of the game. Funny thing though is he admitted later in an interview that he met the game devs at a pub in Ireland but doesn't remember what was discussed at all. Then some time later they asked him to record a video introducing the game for a trailer and he had no idea what they were talking about. So my head cannon is he got totally plastered at the pub, probably started rambling about Tolkien again. (which he does LOT) The Devs, not really understanding, just wrote it all down and then left and went and made a game with some of the ideas. *EDIT: for the record I make the joke but there is way to much "familial relationships" in the lore to not be Martin's work.
