I love r906 love ur reactions to them i hope u react to them more !
You can request songs via his request page: https://requests.timwelchmusic.com/
R-906 is my new favorite Vocaloid artist of all time and I think he deserves a study of his own
I see Psi I click IMMEDIATELY omggg
Also I might be wrong, but I believe I read somewhere that for BINOMI the vowel sounds are taken from a performance of Largo al factotum!
More on r-906's Psi: One interpretation is that the song is reflecting on how people constantly consume and move on from things without spending time to digest and remember it, the silence part at 57:55 is supposed to represents the listener skipping the song. At the very beginning Miku said "Don't touch my right hand", and if you watch it on mobile, that 'skip' part happens immediately when the youtube skip button overlap with miku's right hand. And the next few lines are: "You just touched my right hand" "Even if I ask you not to give up on me, it's pointless because you've already left" "You don't even remember the candy 80 seconds ago taste like" The song use 'amezaiku/candy sculpture' as a metaphor for all the 'songs', a lot of time it can catches people's attention because they're colorful and attractive but people move on so quickly they never pay attention to its 'taste' or what went into making them. In the end, the MV returned to normal and the song end with "Without even knowing Iβm vomiting blood in the back alley, you are walking away." "I wonder what color I should decorate it with next time?" the message here is probably even though the effort behind each work often goes unnoticed, creators still have to keep adapting, trying something new and hoping it'll capture someone's attention next time. And it's indeed very hard to catch the lyrics on the first watch through for a lot of vocaloid songs, I'm pretty sure it's hard for Japanese people as well (because of the unnatural robotic pronunciation, speed, and sometime extreme high notes)π
If you would like to do a study on singer vs voicebank... Kikai no Koe Live is probably your best example that the label for KAF blessed us observers with. 5 singers and their voice synth counterparts singing together in one song. Interchanging between one another, while some might try and sing in a manner opposed to their voice synth and some who tries to sing closer to them.
Bit more on Igaku: "Dr Kidori" is probably meant to be interpreted as ζ°εγ, the noun form of ζ°εγKidoru which means "To pretend to be" or "To pose as". It would roughly be like the character being named "Dr. Poser" or "Dr. Fake"
So many good songs this time! Always a treat to see you react to vocaloid songs
these songs were all excellently chosen. btw, I'm sure soemone else will mention it. But there was even *another* whole layer on top of everything else in mesmerizer. The song is *riddled* with secret messages and cries for help, hidden in the music video. From teto blinking SOS with her eyes, to signing 'help' in sign language. This was a very enjoyable listen. very well done.
30:00 Not sure I agree that Maretu songs tend to be sweet sounding. Perhaps the vocaloid tuning and 8-bit elements, but generally it's quite dark or even dissonant. 1:09:15 Well, with Vocaloid songs you can focus on the music instead of the vocals. Should make it easier to get through more songs.
Maretu songs are usually not very sweet sounding but they do have that dramatic accent and can be sometimes upbeat because of the 8-bit elements, which is always such an insane contrast to those dark themes and general very disturbing lyrics.
Harusaruhi from V.W.P of Kamitsubaki studios did the cover you heard of psi
The hitomania connection was due to sasuke producing the kasane teto original version lol, gigi murin's is a cover, she also has an igaku cover
The community has created a lot of bundles for the artists in this Vocaloid Producer Discovery this month, so check them out in the request app and vote on them if you want Tim to react to them! There are also others not in this bundle requested to be sure to check them all out
If we get enough hearts, there is a bundle study requests for the duets of the V.W.P girls( KAF is a part of this group) alongside their vocal synth counterparts(virtual isotopes) singing original songs so that might be fun tim. https://requests.timwelchmusic.com/r/6990047b-a00c-4e1d-b2f5-e0d5437850ae
I was waiting for this reaction the whole week! π₯ You would be surprised by how many good covers there are of Mesmerizer and tbh all of the songs in the list, some utaite like Mafumafu and Wolpis Carter can even sing it in the original key! Edit: The reason for why you made the connection to the Hitomania cover of Gigi is very easy. Sasuke Haraguchi produced Hitomania the original vocaloid song π You also heard the Psi cover of Harusaruhi who is one of the best rappers in the vsinger scene!
Any huge vocaloid song will drag utaites out of their holes to cover and match the song ,every song here as multiple excellent covers
