IMO, Best female kpop vocalist: IU 1a, Taeyeon 1b, Wendy 3.
Zimzalabim song structure is a trip!
Had to become a patron after seeing more RV. They are the pinnacle IMO
same
Next Taeyeon and Girls Generation that is the mother of Red Velvet And Taeyeon is the main vocal of Girls Generation She is solo list (along with IU) And she is Baekhyunβs girlfriend
I thought Taeyeon and Baekhyun broke up?
I really recommend you to watch wendy lee mujin service https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh8dU0SPYyg&t=6s Wendy sang many great songs to showcase her vocals. She sang I Have Nothing - Whitney Houston, it's insaneee!!!
Her Whitney Houston cover is so good~β€οΈ
iβm not sure if this detail was in the guide/introduction but red velvet has two sides to their discography. red is for their more fun, poppy songs and velvet is for their more darker sound, their r&b songs etc. the killing voice starts off exclusively with red songs until peekaboo where they move into their velvet side. theyβre very diverse and their discography is crazy good
Yay, subscribed for Red Velvet! β€οΈ
please react to their newest song Cosmic
Yay! I'm so happy you got to react to this! We'll definitely have to send some suggestions your way including some of the title tracks they had to leave out and some fan favorite b-sides. In regards to organization, I think the only two definitive chronological songs were "Happiness" at the beginning since it was their debut song and "Chill Kill" at the end because it was what they were promoting at the time. They organized the songs according to their Red Velvet concept, starting with Red (bright, energetic, experimental sometimes), then Velvet (dark, mature, r&b, smooth, creepy sometimes), and then Red Velvet (a combo of the two) which is why the dates jump around. You pretty hit the nail on the head with your assessments on singing quality and utilization. In regards to rapping, I would say Red Velvet is more about vibes, swagger, and confident attitude (and seeing how easily Irene can seduce people). Not really a group for high speed syllables per second or super aggressive rapping. Potential Deep Dives from the Killing Voice Ice Cream Cake - Carmen references and some fun composition decisions with the pre-chorus. Zimzalabim - Zimzalabim is a magical word like a "abracadabra" and is supposed to illicit the feeling of a roller coaster. Some of the percussion choices sound like gamelan to me. Red Flavor - Also maybe include the orchestrated version which is super fun π Bad Boy - I think this one is still the overall favorite? Definitely one of the most popular songs by them. One Of These Nights Kingdom Come - My personal favorite. I love that drum beat so much. Feel My Rhythm - Kind of a weird song, so I think you'd love it. Masterful usage of incorporating Bach's Air on G String. One of my favorites of all time. Chill Kill For ones that weren't on the video So Good - there's also a fun concert version with a little Wendy solo attached. Power Up Umpah Umpah Rookie Birthday - Rhapsody in Blue sample, also cowritten by EJAE (along with Psycho) RBB (Really Bad Boy) - Irene's D7 I Just - kind of a similar vibe to Kingdom Come Cosmic - yes please β€οΈ They also have some Japanese tracks that I'm not sure if you'd rather have requested as a kpop song or a jpop song. Then there's all of the subunit, solo, and collab stuff you could look into. There's a lot. π΅βπ« I also know that I'm missing a bunch of stuff in this list too. π
One thing you mightve missed (and you should DEFINITELY check it out individually) is 'Feel My Rhythm' is a CRAZY interpolation of Bach's Air on G String (you mentioned graduation which its played at often but also weddings). It's actually a little nuts what SM did with this song......Air on G String is in D major (so is this rendition) BUT, they actually tuned it down a little to closer to D flat bc they tuned it to D in BAROQUE TUNING (or how D would've sounded during Bach's time). Not only that......the song released on Bach's bday
Red Velvet has some of my favorite classical music samples and they do it so well π "Feel My Rhythm" is my favorite with Air on G String, but I also love their use of Carmen in "Ice Cream Cake" and Rhapsody in Blue in "Birthday" β€οΈ Oh and Fur Elise in "BYE BYE"
lol....."I think Red Flavor is my favorite song of theirs so far"....same with the rest of korea (it's their most popular song ever, you should watch the MV on your own time.....they actually BECOME their representative fruits and you can see exaxtly what a blue orange is)
Reveluv here! π Yay I'm so excited!
