Agust D (from BTS) 'Agust D' MV Analysis

Just as a recommendation and general rule of thumb with BTS MV's, you should always turn on CC/ Subtitles

Suga is known for his flows. And he is from the underground hiphop scene in korea he was a teen then tho😁

Why no CC????

Glad you are finally checking out some of their solo works! I love the solo works of all the members because you can see their distinct styles/personalities in their music which are all so different. Then when they are together it becomes a synergistic event. Can’t wait for March!

Yay Tim!! The Agust D mixtapes are some of my absolute favourite solo works from the members, and this is what started it all. His title tracks always go HARD but I really adore the b-sides as well. Moonlight and 28 from D-2 are current favourites. There are a lot of introspective lyrics in his albums. I saw that Daechwita was on the top of the recommendation list so just a note - the music video on YouTube only has the track name in Korean, so it doesn’t actually say “Daechwita,” but the link in the recommendation post is to the correct video

The dt stands for Daegu Town where he was born! Agust D songs are super introspective and raw. Often enough they're very angry or downright dreadful because Yoongi has been through some real bad stuff in his life. Agust D is seemingly retired for now after his latest album. He might come back in the future but basically while Agust D was a necessary vent, that isn't all that Yoongi is.

A to the G to the U to the STD. I remember everyone in the audience screaming that with him at his solo concert. Damn that was a great concert. Totally dead on my feet by the end and I lost my voice for a week

Yes Agust D is Daegu Town Suga, Daegu being where he is from. Nice research. Suga is also an abbreviation of Shooting Guard, the position he played in basketball. Agust D is very raw because it contains all the pain and anger he can’t express as Suga of BTS. This particular song is a diss track, but he has a lot that go over mental health as well, such as The Last. It goes just as hard but in a different way. The song Agust D, which you just listened to, was his first solo project after joining BTS, but before BTS he performed in the Underground rap scene under the name Gloss. Yoongi, his real name, is known as one of the fastest rappers in K Pop with his record being almost 10 syllables per second. I rounded up, it’s like 9.8 something. So the part where he gets really slow is him making fun of other idol rappers. Both lyrically and speed wise, basically saying “this is what you do and you call yourself a rapper. I’m the real rapper” kind of thing. BTS got a lot of hate in the beginning, and I mean a lot. Suga and RM were also called sellouts by other underground rappers because they joined K Pop. If you like crazy stuff I really do think you’d enjoy Daechwita. Daechwita is the military marching music heralding the coming of the King. So he incorporates those traditional instruments into the track and it is chaotic and glorious

Didn’t see this coming! Amazing as always 💜 BTS Festa 2021 is also a good one
