I've read that Pau does use a midi foot pedal. I don't know what that means, lol, but it sounds like what you were talking about :-)
That was awesome, Tim. As far as I'm concerned, you can go as deep as you like. One of the things The Warning has done to me has been to make we want to learn more and more about music, how songs are constructed, how singers sing. I've spent my career as a scientist studying the sensory cells (the hair cells) that actually detect sound, but music is a whole different thing. I've listened to music all my life but I've never tried to learn how it all works—and now I'm reading books on music, books on music theory, trying to make sense of it all. I am so thankful that DPA have stimulated this in me! So I completely love everything you say as you nerd out. I may not full understand everything, but I am trying.
Peter, that’s fascinating! So interesting to know that about you. I love your desire for personal edification around music. Have you considered taking some lessons on guitar or piano or even some singing lessons? That’s a real way to get immersed in the understanding.
There’s a teaser video of Ale playing a bass line that may be to a song from their upcoming album and she also has a lot of fuzz distortion on that clip. I kind of wonder if she is influenced by her friend Misa of Bandmaid. And agree with others, no need to apologize for nerding out - that’s what we’re here for. Oh, and they live in Monterrey. 😎 👍
Do I hear that right that Ale sings the low vocals? I can't quite make out if it is Pau or Ale, especially in the beginning.
I think Pau sang most of the harmonies, but I do believe Ale was singing some
Nerdiness is the whole point. Interesting comments and insights. This performance is tops for me for "Escapism". I've always liked the song, but it's gotten so much better with that extended outro. This is epic.
Thanks for the video! Don't worry about getting nerdy, it's great when people dig into the music with more detail
Personally, never too deep! Plus, you do it after you've listened all the way through, so the deep analysis part is like the icing on the cake! Enjoyed your reaction!! 🤘⚡ (If you get a chance, check out their cover of Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" at SiriusXm!!)
Oh my god, Tim, you will love that cover.
Yeah, go as deep as you like! We're here for it.
@12:20 It's not too deep, nerd out as much as you want to 🙂
That acoustic guitar during the quiet part is intentional. it's on the backing track. The backing track also has those synthesized effects in the intro and going into the extended outro that you assumed were triggered by Dany's guitar
